My first attempt at a poll.  Do you shut down your LCD display when not in use to reduce screen burn in ?

I answered "No, never, I don't care", but a better response would have been "No,never, LCD screens don't have burn-in problems".  stir the pot / get cooking

LCD screens DO NOT "Burn in"......
I have several of them on 24/7/365 and they have colorbars up on them.In the 8 years I have never had one "Burn In".
I do not run "Screen Savers" on computers equipped with LCD displays either.
The overall "problem" with LCD's are the BACKLIGHT will dim after a number of hours. Early/cheap displays will use a CCFL for illumination.
Newer displays use ing LED backlighting will not dim over its lifetime.
Now, do I turn them off to save the displays? No. They are designed to run 24/7.
I don't want to run 20 machines 24/7. 20 X 200 watts = 4 Kilowatts and a fair amount of heat loading.
The WMS Bluebird stays on a lot, it looks nice lit up, draws little, has a large LCD display, makes a nice "Nightlight" for the first floor.
The rest are on "as needed".

Well, I have spent the last 3 eveninings and all day today working on lcd monitors/computers for reel-touch.  They have no-burn in on them.  Nice crisp color/graphics straight from the casino.  I have went thru 15 monitor sets-parts and complete testing them for my specific use. I never leave any of my games on--does not matter what it is.  If it were to break I would fix it.  Have not had a problem with that practice -5 yrs. of doing this.  Why waste your money in power and wear and tear on your machines-?.  Unless you have some bachelor pad or something and never know who drops in on you why leave them on-?.  Yea I know they were designed to stay on 24/7 in casino's but we are not the casino and why bother. Only thing I had a problem with is the bally 6000 battery eaters.  I like those so don't think I am bashing them--- no.  B.

I am a old schooler and have seen all the mikey commercials long ago and did not watch the clip.  The moral of the subject here at hand is if you "like" it --you do it.  There are plenty of people either path taken to sell the parts when it is broken--- Cry Laughing.  B. Also as a note why did you start all this if you do not have a LCD based game,----Perhaps you are in the market -- Scratch Head.

Actually I do have a LCD slot , but someone told me NOT to leave them run when credits were on it, and without credits the upper box software (win3.1) will go into a screen saver mode.

Every LCD screen I've ever seen that is well used, has "Screen Burn",
some are just not as noticeable as others.
It's very noticeable when the unit is switched to all white background for any reason.
I see the burn all on of our LCD security monitors at work every day.
We have to change them about every 4 years or so.
The burn-in gets so bad that it basically gets in the way of viewing other pictures at times.
The LCD security monitors are "ON" 24-7 from the day they're installed until
I can't stand looking at the burn-in anymore.

For home use, it makes no sense to me why anyone would leave any
computer, TV, or LCD screen on at all times.
It's a waste of energy really.
Like Powerstroke said - we're not in a casino.
