Still can't get my 809 to pay out correctly so I bought this, found on Craiglist of course.
It's a Bally 742. I will do the big clean up soon and post another picture. The man I bought it from just said it didn't work. I re-set the breaker and it powered up...coin mech is messed up but it registers a coin manually and I already hit a payout... I got a TIC, a TAC, and a TOE, in "any position" and the hopper started whirring. I'll probably get to it this weekend and replace bulbs, starters, etc... The top sign is illuminated from the bottom and I can't wait to see what that looks like.
Oh...how much did I pay???
$50  applause

Okay maybe I had too much coffee today but I just couldn't resist sending this guy a message. And I wanted to start off the new year with a laugh...
Here's the CL ad:

Slot Machine with keys $$$$ Takes Quarters** make yourself some ca$h - $400 (sun valley, burbank, glendale, noho)

very good condition slot machine, no problems.... no mechanical issues... i am the only owner of this game.... comes with original keys, and takes quarters..... perfect for banquets, parties, or at the house... make extra cash..... u can also get permissions from businesses to put it inside a bar or restraunt and make some extra ash at the end of the month!!! it comes with about 500 fake japanese coins to play for fun..... but set it up to make yourself to make some real money,
ITS ONE THING THAT WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE IS GAMBLING....
call or txt asp ( )
it has to go asap.... first one with a decent offer takes it..... price is negotiable
if the ad is still up it means this is still available... Open to trades or all kinds, firearms, electronics... Let me know what u got.

Firearms??? Well, anyway...here's the message I sent him. It made me feel good in a sinister way.  stir the pot / get cooking

Do you have a Department of Justice license to sell this as a gambling machine? Because, you absolutely cannot put this in ANY restaurant anywhere to make "extra cash." You can't even do this in Nevada without a GAMING license.
Are you a complete idiot...running an ad like this? There's enough red flags to alert ANYONE from ANY law agency to take notice.

I had a call yesterday from a guy who wanted to buy a machine to put in his convenience store in Sacramento...for people to play!!! He was serious!!! You know he was thinking "No one else has slot machines in their stores! People would flock to my store to play here instead of driving to the casino!"  Silly Me! Silly Me!

Interesting to see how the average citizen doesnt know what the local/state gambling laws are...

More Sunday entertainment. Same guy puts up the same pachislo "slot machine"  ad in Los Angeles...here it is again for those who missed out on seeing how stupid people are in LA. Okay...not all are stupid. But this guy makes up for everyone else...and he wants guns too!
I've been flagging it for fun but it's still there.

Saw this today...if anyone needs one to repair or for parts...it looks clean - Southern California. I'd get it but I have no room!

http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/atq/3613796280.html

Have an antique "Draw Poker" slot machine. Play 1 to 100 coins, Bet 1 to 10 coins, uses 52 card deck. Made in USA by FORTUNE COMPANY, later bought by IGT.
This machine does not work (it needs repair-I don't know how), when you plug it in it just clicks and hums a little.
It has to be picked up from my location because it is heavy, like 150lbs. Outside and inside is clean and looks okay.
Can email a picture if you like. Make me a reasonable offer and its yours. Thanks for reading my ad.

CAN SELL THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD ONLY FOR $45.00 PCB-C-250-1 Rev-B SN2111N its 9.5"X13.5" This is for parts only and made by Fortune Co - bought by IGT

Ahh.. An old Fortune 1 machine.. Wouldn't mind having it but it's just a little to far to drive.. About 2500 mile from here.

I found this about a week ago, on Craigslist of course. I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I just though it would be of interest to anyone hiring a "professional" to move a slot machine. I originally was just going to look at it since the seller said it needed "a sensor resetting." Since it was close to me I told him I'm come look at it for free.
The slot had not worked since it was moved, professionally! The only sign of life was the service light. I'm still a novice with these things but I went ahead and looked inside. I didn't see anything obvious (although later I saw something HUGE...duh) and honestly didn't know what to do. I brought a reset key and it did nothing. He had one as well, along with the key to the three other locks on it!
This S2000 had been on CL for a few days already. The seller was moving again and was anxious to get rid of it. I didn't plan on buying it but brought my dolly and moving blanket just in case. So I told him I'd make a ridiculously low offer for it.
Seller: "Go ahead"
Me: $100
Seller: "Lets do it!"
He had worked at the Mandalay Bay and this was given to him when he left. It was more "original" than I've seen before with all the locks, and the original stand. We loaded the thing in my truck and home I went.
At the sellers home, I removed the top glass and found a nice spare fluorescent tube wrapped in foam but broken at one end. Back at my home, I vacuumed all the bits of glass that were in the top and bottom. There was also some broken plastic from something...it was black and yellow. I saw that the black was from the BV "insert bill" housing. I plugged it in and got the same thing...light but no main power. I opened the boxed below, where the AC line comes in and didn't see anything obvious. Before I got out my volt meter, I looked straight ahead at the reels to notice something large and metal "too close" to reels. It was the power supply! It had fallen out of it's plug. Pulled the reels out, plugged the PS back in and screwed it in properly. Re-inserted the reels, flipped on the switch and got life! It booted up but reel number 2 had a tilt error and I had a "battery low" error as well.
Next I pulled out the MPU and went to Mar Vac (last surviving real electronic store in my area), got the battery and a nice socket. Soldered all that in, fiddled with reel #2 and still kept getting TILT. The reel was warped from the power supply resting against it for who knows how long. Finally got the tilt to go away (although I'll be ordering a reel set soon from someone special) but it's still warped.
The machine finally booted up properly but the BV was not working. No light, no whirrrrrrr....nothing. I went into settings and did a clear/key and enabled the BV but no change!    money  (pun intended!) This was a Mars/Mei BV and I'd never seen one before. It was so light compared to the old heavy metal JCM BV's. I removed and looked at it...didn't seem broken but it was weird the way the thing connected to the cash can area. I put it back in and still nothing. Checked the door and the bill box, made of some kind of indestructible plastic. Slammed it in...made sure the door was firmly closed and locked (original lock still on door) and ... nothing. Then I noticed another bit of yellow plastic like I had seen before, just below the BV housing. I recalled that, on the BV head, there was a latch that was the same color. Pulled the head back off and realized that yellow was part of the slider that opens the head. I had to really work it and got the head to open. A couple more bits of yellow plastic fell out. I brushed it clean and the head opened and closed much easier now. I slide it back in and it had a much better "fit feel."
Powered it back up and got "Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....SczzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzP" but still had no light and it would not accept bills.
Went back in and made sure the BV was enabled. I also did a clear/key which I had not done and forgot if that was needed after a dead battery (I know a lot of people do "clear/set" when it's not needed). Reset all the stuff and enabled the BV again but still got nothing. Checked all my credit settings - (this machine is bill in/ticket out)
and noticed I could get into menus, but then it would lock up and not back out or set the settings. I had no idea why but then remembered a "dangly" micro switch in the left, inside the door. I saw it earlier but just thought it was just an unused switch. But then the 30 watt bulb in my brain light up and I realized this was the MAX BET switch that had been broken out of the housing!  Silly Me!
Thankfully I had some spare switches and this was an easy fix. Now I could get in and out of settings and save them. Unfortunately this still didn't get my BV problem solved. Then, the 60 watt bulb light up and I  went HERE and read some threads on this very thing and found out about OPTION 4.3 auto config. Did that...and, amazingly, the BV light up, came alive and works, even with bits of the slider handle broken away.
Finally, I replaced all the burned out bulbs, did a little cleaning (this machine was immaculate anyway), moved it in my room, and bolted it back to the stand. I'll be ordering some replacement plastic for the BV housing and the replacement reels. I already posted this machine in the s2000 section showing the weird modifications the casino did when they added the ticket printer. I'm going to convert it to quarters (with hopper) eventually but happy it's working.
Sorry this was so long but I hope everyone that got this far, enjoyed it! The MAIN reason why I wrote all this was to show the MESS that can happen if a machine is moved improperly and to show that everyone needs to just use some common sense when buying a machine and to check things that may have become loose or disconnected...like heavy power supplies.  rotflmao
Finally...here are the pictures of my CL find!!! I think the stand alone was worth the $100 I paid for the entire thing.
