Hi,

as I am a noob to this. I am trying to figure out an error that I am getting that I cant resolve.  On the Dbl Diamond the candle lights are flashing.  The top is slower and the bottom is faster.  From going through the manaul it states to check the Tilt door or All Pays door open.

Also, the SIPN REEL, INSERT COIN and COIN ACCEPTED is lit.

I am unsure on what this is refering too and how to resolve.

If you can help this would be great!

As I am still trying to figure out the self test and display this is what I have after hitting the test button

Winner Paid
21

21 is a coin error

Make sure no coins are stuck in the coin comparitor and reset the machine. Turn off and on . open door and close.

Thanks.  As I am starting to figure out the self test I was able to do a 10_1 11_1 and 12_1.    They all checked out OK when I stuck some paper past the eyes they all triggered.  But when I did the same with coins on each step of 10_1 11_1 and 12_1 only about 25% were seen??

However, when I power on it still shows the lights flashing and COIN Accepted is still lit.

I still cant figure this out.  Any suggestions anyone?  I might just repalce the sensor any good links to parts online?

Thanks

Sounds like you have a large token "coin-in" guide.
It may not have the curved plastic guide.
Your may look like the one on the left and the coins you're throwing
down in it are missing one or more of the 3 holes
for the optic light to sense the coin.
That's why when you stick a paper down there it works
every time because the paper blocks the holes.
I'm surprised that it's not going into "21" error code because the paper
must go fully past all 3 holes at a certain speed. Scratch Head 3

Thanks from what I can tell it is the 25c guide See Pics.  This is where I am at now after taking it apart.

Power on ok BV and wheels spin.

Candle is top floashing slow bottom flashing fast,

Display
Winner Paid =1
Credits = <Blank>
Insert Coin = ON
Coin Accepted = ON
Coins Played = 0
Spin Reel = Lite ON

If I open the test button does nothing.   If I pull the cable from the coin optics I get the error then I can use the test button to move around.

I am not sure what that tells me ..  Any suggestions

Thanks again!!

Well, that's the right one!
So, It's clean now and there's nothing blocking anything...should be good to go!
If the "Coin Accepted" light is still on...press the spin button.
If nothing happens, Make sure the button switch is seated
fully inside the threads of the plastic button under the deck.

Check the wires to the spin switch...should be 2 for the bulb and 2 for the microswitch,
maybe it's come loose a bit and the plunger from the spin
button isn't actually pressing the micro-switch down?

Alright as I am starting to want to shoot this thing.  $5/5 Paypay for the fix.  You and to donate to this site! no joke.

Tested the switch. Click ok and omh the swith and it is triggering.

Power on BV and reels spin No coins added then goes to

Candle is top flashing slow bottom flashing fast,
(see Pic)
Display
Winner Paid =1
Credits = <Blank>
Insert Coin = ON
Coin Accepted = ON
Coins Played = 0
Spin Reel = Lite ON

and while this is showing if I open I can not get in the test menu as the button does nothing.  I will have to pull the connector to get a fault then I can get in the test menu.    The only other thing that was done before this was to reseat the mother board as I was going to adjust the volume.

Insert Coin = ON
Coin Accepted = ON

Those two lights should not be on at the same time!
especially with nothing showing in the coins played display!!!
In that photo, is the close fully closed?
The "coins played" display should read something other than a blank or zero?
Door optics okay?

I'm suspecting that something is wrong with the motherboard ram or MPU CMOS chips.
Do you have a set clear and set chips on hand?

Not yet should have by next Wed.  I just purchased a set and they are on their way.  I was going to fix the BV as it tests ok but is not lit.  Here are two questions

1) There are jumpers on the main board (next to the reel/game chips) what are they for ?

2) I have messed around while being in the test menu.  IS THERE any chance I could of change a setting in there?  I have been looking for a good menu map of then test menus.  While I can find the descriptions the flow has been a challange to me.

Is there any other way of doing a reset?

Thanks !!!!!

1) The jumpers are for different chip sizes such as 256k or 512k sized chips.
2) Yes, you shouldn't be pushing buttons when you have NO CLUE what they're for?
It's a good thing you're not in the cockpit of a Boeing 747.

Anyways, That's what we're here for at NLG...TO HELP YOU!
Check Rick's FAQ on the top right of the home page...there's TONS OF STUFF IN THERE!

3) I'd wait until your chips come in.
Do some extensive reading in Rick's FAQ...You will learn a lot in there!
If you diligently read EVERYTHING in the FAQ's - you'll probably have very few questions next week! yes

If you do have more questions - please do NOT be hesitant about asking!
I've asked probably MORE questions than anyone else here!
That's why I know a few things every once in a while...it really depends on how my CRS is going!!  rotflmao

Sorry was not clear.  Not for the forum but for the test menu.  I did find a lot of the service guides but they dont seem to have a legend (map) of the flow.  I was able to figure most of it out but, I wanted to see something that listed them all.  For example if you know HP Printers you can print out a menu map of what you can access from the front panel.  I have been looking to see if something like this exists.

Thanks.  Does that make sense?

with the machine as you have it pictured: did you try to turn the reset and see if anything changed?
when you tilt the machine(code21by pulling the connector off) you can get into the test mode!
push the test button until you get to the 10 1 sequence theses are the input tests, each turn of the reset switch will advance in the menu, 13-0 is the door optics test, close the door and see if the 1 toggles to a 0 and back. 16-1 is the handle switch, etc.
next press= 10, output tests, next press= 50, sound test, next= 3in cp ,hopper test, next= reel strip, game type, next= reel strip position, next= denom test, next= max# coins, next= coins from hopper, next should reset and go to game ready mode.
If all these tests work, then something with the door optics or its associated circuits are defective.

Thanks Jim.  I have been going through that.

Yes I did turn the reset key and it did not clear anything.  I was just going through all of the self test again.  As you just said! I was just going to mention that I noticed on test 13 (Door optics) when the door is open or the level is up its 13_0  but it seems that when the door is closed it shows 13_1/0 (where 1 and 0 flashes back and forth.  I would assume when closed it should be at 13_1?

My question is if that is normal or not to go back and forth?    If not what can I jumper to bypass that to see if that is the issue?

on test 13    that is what it should do     it should change from 0 to 1 and keep doing that as long as the door latch is in the down position.   That means your door optics are working as they should.

Thanks Guys...  I was hoping that was it but it looks like the door sensor is fine.  So this is where I am at

System is SP731 SS3817

Power on - Reels move, BV resets then goes to the following

Candle is top flashing slow bottom flashing fast,

Display
Winner Paid =1
Credits = <Blank>
Insert Coin = ON
Coin Accepted = ON
Coins Played = 0
Spin Reel = Lite ON

I guess I am going to have to wait until I get the clear chips unless there is any other suggestions.  AS there is no other error codes then what is listed above  and I cant get in to the test menut unless I create one (by unplugging the coin optics) I cant seem to find where the fault is.

Really guys thanks for your help I am getting a crash course on this really quick!!

Thanks again!!

One more thing that you could try while waiting for the clear chips would be to pull the CMOS chip, ground the legs against a conductive surface to clear the memory, and reinsert it. You might get lucky, and if not, no harm done.
