That police patrol had to be just about flying to catch up to it and
stick it's rear bumper on the front of a little  muted box going 90MPH?
How the little car didn't spin off the highway and
flip over a few million rotations is next to unbelievable!

According to what I heard, he managed to get that car to slow down to 55 and that's when the officier played kissing bumper with him.  And I also heard that the same thing happened back east, the day afrer this one in San Diego.  Unfortinately that one was wrecked afterwards.

It didnt spin off or flip because I think he was DRIVING it at 90MPH.....
To stop the car all he had to do was PRESS the dash button and hold it for 3 seconds.
Also pulling up on the parking brake handle would have locked up the rear wheels (never happened).
It accellerated more than ONCE? why didnt he stop it between the bursts of speed?
The driver I found out is also a suspect in a multi-thousand dollar "Burglary" staged ripoff

I smell a "ripoff" here....stay tuned for more Smiley

I watched them put the news report/interview together live on the AMC-1 satellite. They were at it for over 30 minutes before they uplinked it to the studio. Mikes and camera were on...and a LOT of stuff was said "NOT FOR AIR" hahahaha
The "Cruiser" DID NOT reduce the speed of the Prius, it merely pulled in front of it AFTER he shut it down so it would not continue to roll. I think the driver got what he was after, fame..and soon fortune.
The one the next day is a copycat..time will see....

30 minutes at roughly 90MPH...They went quite a distance at barreling high speeds!
I wonder how fast the cruiser had to get it's speed up to in order to catch up?
Or did they actually slow down and wait for the little bullet to meet them? lol

I haven't watched the news since.  I only heard about this because I was at the hospital for Dad's appointment and the news was on.   Maybe it is a fake  but I guess time will tell.  I didn't think those cars could do 90 but I don't have one so I don't know.  You know the news media, anything to 'get your attention' and wonder.

It's a little "Locomotive" takes a while to get it there, but it will do 90 after a while.
Remember, it *IS* a Electric Motor-Generator setup......

Kind of a different story but in 1989 I bought me wife a new Ford Probe GT ( that's what she wanted ) She called me one day and said everytime she started the car the engine ran away, ( full throttle ) I went to her location and she was right, turned out to be one small wire broken going to the fuel injectors. If it had have been a automatic transmission she might have put it in gear, and went for a ride. hard to say she got killed in that same Damn car a couple of years later. Head on accident not her fault.

Most cars are indeed "Drive by Wire" now in design, but something is rotten with the Prius story.
I suspect it will all come out in the wash soon as the car is intact and in NHSA/Toyota's custody.

My throttle cable had busted on my Skidoo one winter morning.
So I pulled the sheathing off of it and just attached
the single cable wire from the throttle down to the carb.
I yanked on the pull cord to start up the engine and turned to go left a bit...Boy that was a mistake...
At full speed in a matter of seconds - I slammed into the side of my mom's stone house.
Bent the ski's to crap...not to mention my front 2 teeth against the handlebars...lol

Many years later, Bombardier came out with wrist-strap "kill engine" keys -
similar to the kind you wear when riding Jetskis on water.

That could of come real handy when I flipped the skidoo over later on when I tried to
go across a deep ditch and the &@%#$ machine ended up on MY belly on top of me??!!
Gas pouring out and the threaded tracks spinning like nuts because the bloody motor was still running!
Try reaching up and hit the red button while it's on top of you! Very difficult at best! lol

I am waiting to see about THIS (fraud?) one too... Did you listen to the 911 calls??? Hmmmmmmm.... Scratch Head

Just put the Damn car in Neutral!!!

I really feel, and have been saying for a while that I think that have a computer hardware or firmware, or software problem.... This is more than floor mats and shims in my mind! One guy had a Toyota doing this accelleration thing and he supposedly hooked a vidcam up in the pedal area with NO floor mats.....

Wonder what else was said OFF AIR????

Ok everbody, I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla with 26,000 miles on it already, I use it for work every day and have NEVER had any problem whatsoever, My girlfriend has had a Toyota Corolla since 2008 with no problems and her father has had a Prius since 2008 with no problems and he drives 80 miles to work each way every day...

I personally think most people are using this "defect" as a excuse for their own screwups while driving, I have not even taken mine in for "the fix" and probally won't (in case I screwup..lol)

Stat  I'll bet you the farm Bunker is in the planning stages of getting his golf club to automatically do his putting for him, if that works out as expected next will be his driver and pretty soon he can send his clubs to the course and he can stay home and say he played 18 holes. Clap Clap
