Sounds like either the coin mech or cable is bad or a door not closing, does it have a bill validator, if so does it work and machine play, just not accept coins or is the game not playing at all, if this is so, what does the display show, and if you open and close the main door does the display go blank and then appear after a second?

the game plays fine,takes bills
shut the door it plays ok

it accepts the coins alright & puts up the credits ok---    the coins do not go in the hooper-- it has that long tube that was most likely a drop box at one time right below the hooper, that is where all the coins go
instead of the hooper

Either the diverter seloniod  is stuck or it is getting a signal from the hopper that it is full, unplug the small 2 pin connector to the blue selonoid under the coin optics and see if that helps, if so you have power going to it if not the plunger is stuck on it

I wish my hoppers were full enough to trigger the diverters.  Maybe I should get some tokens instead of the quarters.

hmm, I think this should be moved to the IGT topic.(global mod please.)

Thanks,
Wayne

Something to check with this in the future is if the hopper probe is getting grounded incorrectly (ie. detecting that the hopper is full and telling the solenoid to divert coins away).  This could potentially happen if the probe is loose and touching some metal, or if the wiring going to it is getting grounded/shorted somewhere.

(Re:Captain) I think my brother has an "I Dream of Genie" topper Jeannie

Good point knagl, find the root of the problem then it can be connected again.
