Hi, maybe someone can help me. I have a few IGT PE plus machines with the 13 CRT monitor non touch screen. The monitors show discoloration and slightly faded picture. Not vibrant at all. Obviously normal wear has caused this. Burned poker cards images etc.  I tried degaussing the monitor which help but even with trying to adjust the dials no luck. Any idea on what I can try to do to bring them back up to an acceptable descent view with my limited knowledge on repairing monitors.  Anything I can do to improve the image. Thanks for your time.

The two best things you can do for a monitor is to use a CAP kit, and to replace the main power transistor.
Start with the Cap kit.

Centronixs also has a monitor exchange program.

About the only thing that you can do for the problem you describe is to R/R  (Restore/Rejuvenate) the CRT.  Sencore has a CR7000 "Beamrite" CRT analyzer & restorer which does a decent job...B&K had a CRT Restorer/Rejuvenator in the 90s that I much prefer...it did a much better job removing shorts off of the RGB guns.

Anyway, if you don't have an extra 5K laying around, you might try a TV/Monitor repairman in the area, he should have a restorer/rejuvenator in his shop.

Hope this helps...

God bless,

Is the PE really CGA or is it more like VGA?

5k?

A good, used CRT Tester/Rejuvenator will be less than $200 with the CRT adapters...

B&K 467, 470, 480, or 490 are very good models.

Avoid the 465 and earlier models...

B&K has the setup/tube manuals on-line so you can look up your CRT to see what adapter you need to use on it. That'll help you target your purchase.

This has all been discussed in this thread.
