Hi, I am having slot machine withdrawals hissy fit hissy fit Cry Laughing
While playing yesterday I got the error #42, which I know is Reel #2, we have had that before, the connector had come loose so we reconnected it.
This time that is not fixing the problem, Both Reel 2 & 3 are spinning.
We tried changing the Reels putting reel #1 where # 2 goes and reel #2 where #1 goes and the same two reels continued to turn.
I assume this means there is not a problem with the reels themselves.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong and how to fix it
Also I have no idea where the reset button is
We have an IGT Sugar and Spice 3 reel machine

Keep track of it re-occurring.
See if it progressively gets worse.
If it does, then I would try to get a replacement coin-in optics board.
That will help for a while...later on, you will have to replace the MPU board.
They're not really expensive items if you do some serious shopping around!

Another thing that causes "4X" error codes are intermittent door optics.
There may be a failing connector ground wire on one
of the door optics or the optics themselves need better adjustment so
that they line up correctly when the door latch is fully in the down and closed position.

Now are reels dont seem to be paying out correctly
I think it has to do with the reset switch, but we are not quite sure how those numbers on there work
to reset the payout

You swapped the reels around.
The reel strips are are not the same in reels 1,2,3.
Put the reels back in the correct order.

we did put the reels back in the correct order
The reels are working now
it is the pay out that is not working correctly
matter of fact when we hit 3 sevens we got 5 points
I believe it has someting to do with the reset switch
but we are not sure how to reset the machine
Also we dont know where the test button is

If you are sure that you put the three reels back correctly, check to see if you moved the strips on the reels. I have never known a reset to affect strip/symbol position. The notches in the reels (near the bottom of the strips) should line up with the small tabs inside the reel guides, which can be located by feeling for the small bump on the outer right rim of the reel with your index finger.

Once you have confirmed that the strips are on the correct reels and aligned correctly, you can check them by going to test option 4 (paytable test) and test option 5 (reel strip test). The white test button is located either next to the power switch or directly behind it.

As to the specifics of how to run the tests, it will depend on which SP (game) chip you have installed. I strongly suggest that you read "Rick's FAQ" section. There is a blue button under the banner ads at the top of every page that will take you there, and there is also a set of links on the main portal page in the right column above the gaming links and below the site donation link.

Also we dont know where the test button is

The test button on an upright machine is either next to the power switch or behind the power switch (you have to put your finger back there)

I agree that the reels got mixed up somehow.

the keyswitch on the side of the machine is the jackpot reset/audit switch.  The way to completely reset the machine would be to use a clear chip then a set chip to enable the BV,

Thanks,
Wayne

The reset switch has nothing to do with the payout.
No need to worry about that.

Since you switched the reels around and said they were put back in the correct position .. were the harnesses put back on the correct reel?

we found the white self test button
it was hidden behind the on/off switch inside the machine
We never moved the harness
we also took off reel #3 and reset the reel strips it is not quite right
I guess there are notches on the reel which we didn't find
but the machine is back up and running
After I get my fix we might attempt to take reel #3 off again and find the notches so it will line up correctly again
it is just off by a 1/2 inch  but the payouts are back on track now
It was a little disheartening to receive only 17 coins for 3 white 7's instead of 450
but as we are new to ownership we appreciate all the info we have gotten
Thank you

On the outside edge of the reel basket is a an indicator where the notch in the reel strip goes. If you slide the basket around with your finger on the outside edge you will feel it  .. scratch .. your finger. Place the reel strip notch in that area and you will feel the notch catch in the same spot.
