Anyone have a clue what both lock holes are for?.  Sorry I don't have a picture handy of the front, but, this does not have a BV and does not have the tilt out belly..  (Don't mind the nasty handle.. working with a vendor here for new/better one).

Thoughts?  (Anyone have the same setup?)

Thanks,

Johnny K

What's going on with that handle arm?
Looks like someone is pulling the arm with sandpaper?

Chrome flaking off.. Working on getting a new one.

I've seen the belly glass that tilts out that gives you access to the BV (which this does not have).. but this door is one solid piece.. I'll have to take pictures of the reverse/inside to see if that sheds light..

Thanks for the input.

That's a new one on me!   never saw that before, the only logical reason would be :  as IGT was transitioning to the door with the belly drop door  they had to move the lock hole down so it wouldn't interfer with the bezel for the bill acceptor.   I think there was a 1/2 or 3/4 inch difference, so maybe this door was made so it would mate up with the older cabinet and the new cabinet.  you can only use one or the other lock hole.

I have some machines with the main lock located at a different distance with reference to the top of the door. and that's the only reason I could see.

Jim

P.S.  when you replace the handle, be careful removing the screw on the bottom, if you apply too much torque you will snap the head off the allen head screw ,hopefully the new handle will have one installed so you will have a spare.

Thanks for the advice on the handle!

Attached pictures from the inside.. if that sheds light.. appears that the botton one will lock the door, top one is useless?..

Also, is that coin comparitor in backwards?.. I got it that way from the guy I bought it from and it works fine...

Thanks,

JK

I am not sure on the top lock location, but you can just install a cover in the hole and will be fine. I think that the people before me probably had the right idea. As for the comparitor being backwards, I think that it is fine assuming your machine is a $1 machine as they are installed that way for large denom setups.

Thanks for the input.  Looking closely, you can tell there was a lock in the bottom one.. the top I'm not so sure.  The Cabinet has a hole int he upper right (top), I'm guessing that was for a BV that hung.. the top could have bee for a wire switch for that.. who knows?.

I'll look for a blank cover fro hole #2 or worse case buy a second lock to fill the hole.

Take care,

Here's some ideas I use sometimes.
You can get different sizes and colors too! lol

http://www.itw-fastex.com/catalog/index.php/dw/oc/a/3/c/6

Various hardware stores that have the filing cabinets full of parts might have them too.
I think Lowes or Home Depot might have them too!

you can buy metal hole plugs with the tabs on the back for securing. I think the size you need is 3/8".  you can find these at Lowes in their pull out bins that contain Hillman Fastners.

The hole on the top right was for a card reader add-on,  you can use a sink hole filler for this, its a metal disc with a threaded rod attached to it and a oversized wing nut to hold it in place. they usually are chrome plated, you can prep these and paint to match the color of the cabinet. these too can be purchased at Lowes in the sink and faucet gimmicks.

I have seen the two holes in the doors a very long time ago.  I was told that one lock was the casino and the other was for the gaming enforcement.  Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in here.

That would probably mean it took two people to screw a light bulb in... Duh!

Actually I remember seeing the 2 locks on door on Military base IGT slots.   It was basically taking the idea of...   its takes two people to service the machine...more of a  security  thing.   In addition to that,  allot of the Military  IGT  slots were narrow bodies.  Made for a nice compact look.

What's the dimensions of your machine ?    Did you ever find a nice replacement handle ?   If not,  give me a PM... I have several re-chromed straight slot handles.

On my S+ - one lock controls the door and the other is the belly.

it was my understanding that the drop box guy only opened the belly to pull the cash can and refill the hopper

The cash can also had its own lock So the cash can guy couldn't do the dip..

You can refill the hopper on your S+ by only opening the belly door?   Scratch Head

True. However, in Johnny K's case the machine does not have a validator and the belly glass does not open. That's why we're all puzzled. stir the pot / get cooking

You can refill the hopper on your S+ by only opening the belly door?   Scratch Head

In every instance in a casino where I needed a fill, two people showed up, opened the the main door and dumped a pre-measured bag of coins in the hopper. They then notated the fill on a card or paper that was stored on the reel shelf in the machine, usually under the power switch and counters. Quarter fills were $500, dollars were $400 or sometimes $800, and five dollar fills were also $500, if I remember correctly (that only happened to me once, so pardon my CRS).

The cash on the S+ took four keys to get to. The first was the belly door, and the second was the cash door, which the guards that changed the boxes had. There were probably two groups of guards, with each having only one of the two keys. Then there were two on the cash can itself. There would be two groups of employees in the count room and each would have the key to one of the two locks. A member of each group would have to be present to open a box . This method is called double custody.

Banks use the same double custody system. Officers typically had what was called the "top" set of keys, safe combinations, and alarm codes, and senior tellers and sometimes lesser officers or regular tellers would have what was called the "bottom" set. One wasn't "better" than the other -- a top and bottom person were required to access anything other than a teller accessing their own cash. This system protected the bank from theft by deterring collusion and protected honest employees from accusation in cases where something of value went missing.

<ADD> Technically, a teller also handles all transactions in double custody: the customer is the second party, even though they don't think of it that way.

Thanks for the the insights.. I'll take pictures of it, but it appears to me to be of normal size..  It was originally manufactured in 1993 and then there's a "refurb" sticker indicating it was refurbished in 5/96.

As for the handle, I'm working with April on tracking one down and the parts for conversion to a quarter machine and a speaker, 86 door bulb and base as well.

Thanks,

To Kevins Point - I never saw anyone open just the belly door to do a hopper fill - it was always the door.
