in the cases of the CRT-TUBE  to -LCD its easier to buy the converter for CRT==LCD about 39.99--49.99 on ebay  this conveerts the signal just plug it in to 5 volts dc power (the converter) and wire the appropriate wires red blu green black wht etc & off you go .. if you look at the POT OF GOLD thread THE POT OF GOLD I BUILT ON A PLYWOOD TEST BOARD  post someone did for me .. in my pictures is the converter board you need to do what you want .the wiring will never let you convert the signal !without the converter box . its old tech to new tech --dont forget !1

If  its a old VLC MULTI GAME MACHINE the --  monitor they used--with touch screen was a ELO OR 3M  and  epoxy to put on the touch screen --if it was -------YOU WILL NEVER GET IT OFF IN ONE PEICE !!

Bally Gamemaker is the same way .. they used a epoxy or super cement to put on the touch screen . you will never get off the touch screen without taking a peice of the monitor glass with it !!

you will end up buying a touch screen guaranteed .

TO MODIFY MY PREVIOUS POST  your not converting the CGA SIGNAL TO LCD  your converting it to VGA SIGNAL .
now after the question you posted its your touch screen

your better off buying a LCD WITH TOUCH SCREEN INSTALLED ON IT !! THEN USE THE CONVERTER TO CONVERT THE CGA GRAPHICS TO VGA GRAPHICS .

I AM NO EXPERT ON THE EARLY VLC CHECK OUT  MY PROFILE PICTURES IF THATS THE CABINET ITS ELO TOUCH SCREEN ONLY !!

SINCE WE BOTH KNOW THE TOUCH SCREENS ARE BONDED ON -SUPER GLUE ETC HOW IN THE WRLD DID YOU GET A 3M TOUCH SCREEN ON IT ??
NOT A OVERLAY I HOPE ?? IT WLL NEVER WRK ..

YOU NEED A CRT TUBE WITH ELO TOUCH SCREEN THEN EVERYTHING WILL WORK AS NEW ..

I NEVER SAW A 3M TOUCH SCREEN ON ONE OF THOSE EARLY MACHINES ONLY A "ELO" TUCH SCREEN WHICH MAY EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM --THE DRIVERS DONT EXICST ---PLUS THE FACTORY TOUCHSCREENS ARE BONDED TO THE CRT TUBE YOU WILL NEVER GET ONE OFF . ITS A COMLETE CRT AND T/S REPLACE .

ok, but on all the board I have for the vlc (1995) its writed on Microtouch Rev A to F so.. I'm gonna try to made a picture of all the board to see.. if we understand something.
I want to but an lcd touchscreen into the machine and I don't want anymore crt tube. The problem is the pinout for the touchscreen on the main board
cause I want to bypass the original touchscreen controller ( writed microtouch on it ) to a recent flat lcd style touchscreen... Cause for now all the F*k crt tube always broken and its hard
to find parts for them or brand new tube.. Smiley

tank you

mic

P.S. sorry bad english.. pictures gonna come soon...

OK back to step one --if you have a CRT TUBE UNIT and want to switch to a LCD UNIT WHICH ARE ALL VGA 15 -PIN PLUG
you need to buy a CRT -TO -VGA CONVERTER BOX

ITS THAT SIMPLE

RED GOES TO RED
BLUE GOES TO BLUE
GREEN GOES TO GREEN ON CONVERTER BOX

THE OTHER WIRES LEFT MOST LIKELY 2-WIRES THE INSTRUCTIONS ON WHICH CONVERTER BOX WILL TELL YOU WHAT PINS THEY GO ON .

IF YOUR USING  A 3M LCD TOUCH SCREEN >>>>>ORANGE IS ALWAYS 12 VOLT DC <<<<<<AT ANY CONNECTION POINT IT DOES NOT MATTER .

THE
GRAY WIRE GOES TO NEUTRAL

GREEN GOES TO GROUND -ANYWHERE

IT CANT GET ANY MORE SIMPLE THAN THAT ,,

========================================================

MODFIED
JUST SO YOU DONT GET CONFUSED --99.9% OF CONVERTER BOXES RUN ON .5 VOLT DC

THE VOLTAGE CAN BE PICKED UP ANYWHERE OUR YOU CAN BUY A SEPERATE CONDOR POWER PACK AC--110-VOLT TO .5 V0LT DC

ITS THE 3M TOUCH SCREEN THAT RUNS ON 12 VOLTS DC YOU CAN PICK UP THAT VOLTAGE ON BOARD SMEWHERE R RUN A SEPERATE CONVECTION COOLED POWER SUPPLY THAT HAS AL THE VLTS YOU NEED FOR VARIOUS PLUGS ETC

ELO RUN ON 5-VOLTS DC

MODIFIED FOR LAST TIME SO I DONT PULL OUT MY LAST HAIR ON HEAD LOL
YOU CAN NOT GO BY THE MANUAL ON A MACHINE THAT IS 15--25 -30 YRS OLD TECHNOLOGY ---RUNNING A CRT TUBE PINOUT TO >>>>MODERN DAY VGA PINOUT <<

THE CURRENT TECHNOLOGY WAS NOT IN USE AT THE TIME YOUR MACHINE WAS BUILT .

THE MANUAL WILL NEVER TELL WHAT PLUG GOES WHERE UNLESS YOU ARE USING FACTORY REPLACEMENT PARTS OF 1995 ETC THAT AGE AND STYLE .. YOUR TURNING A OLD TECH MODEL INTO A NEW TECH MODEL

The Touch screen will interface into some sort of controller depending on the touch technology in use.  After the controller does it's thing to the signals it sends it on to the computer/ game.  The VLC mother board requires serial data (send/receive) and also will supply 5vdc and a ground as well as a drain line.
The drain line is simply a wire grounded at one end with no connection at the other.

The VLC does not use a standard CGA Specs. Use your scope to check your horizontal and vertical frequencies. They are a little off from standard. Remember Standard for the 80's was not standard. There is a distributor coming out with a drop in kit to convert to LCD, complete with LCD, Touchsreen, controller, new bezel for wood 8730wood and the wiring needed to hook er all up. I will post when they get the go ahead to produce. Also there are two touchscreens used by VLC, on elographics in 19"casino cabs and 3m microtouch in 19"woods. two different controllers of course. LCD will work if it is a locked Sync. generic LCD's try to match the sync automatically and cant do it. they get close but not quite.

Kaddy - Welcome to NLG

On the topic of non standard CGA signals. Is this distributer by any chance looking into something for the IGT PE+. There are many members here who would love to upgrade their PE+ to LCD if the price was right.
