Hi

Was the game working previously ?. With power off disconnect reel harness where it plugs into backplane board. Check for any pins that may have worked loose from their socket.
While you are at it may as well re seat your processsor board. If its a new purchase you may have 4 reel SW in a 3 reel machine or similar.

yes, the machine is telling you that for some reason there is a reel that is disconnected. a series circuit is set up by a loop on each reel assembly, pins 5 & 6, if you go to the submit a file section, download the S+ repair manual, go to page 21 it will show you how the circuit is set up and you should be able to check all of the associated plugs that have to do with this circuit. If you own a meter, then you can test the resistance of the circuit, if the loop is good, and the connections are good then it could be the motherboard or the main board itself. I would make certain that the reel loop and its wiring were good before I would suspect something else.

Take out the bulbs and see what happens. A bad bulb caused my last error 49.

The fluorescent light bulbs behind the belly, reel ,award glass. If the bulb is bad (flickers) it will sometimes cause error 49 to come up. Are your reels spinning slowly when error 49 comes up ?
