can anyone give info on the IGT S+ chip SP871 please???

I have an IGT S+ machine with the game "Diamond Tens" and the chip SP871. I don't see it on the SP and ST list and was wanting to know what game types it plays and maybe some other game names. Thanks.

Well, for what it's worth, Diamond Tens is a Type 0 game (no nudging, no respins, etc.).  If nothing else, you can safely say that it supports type 0 games (Red White and Blue, Double Diamond, Wild Cherry, 5x Pay, etc.).  If you check out the IGT bible and look at an individual game, it will tell you what "type" that game is.

...and don't let your SP chip hold you back from buying another kit.  SP chips are pretty easy (and inexpensive) to obtain, and if nothing else you'll be able to get a different SP chip which you'll be able to determine the game types it supports.

I have already figured out that Diamond Tens is a Type 0 game from the game bible and that Type 0 games have "no nudging, no respins, etc., but have been told it will run other type games as well.  I posted the question more to get it added onto the SP & ST chip list as it's not currently listed and to learn it's capabilities. Does annyone have that information please??? Thanks

Well, since you have it and it's running your Diamond Tens, we can safely say that it is a Type 0 game chip. Almost all of the Type 0 SP chips that I see also support Types 1, 4, & 5. We could add that with a note that it's uncertain. Some chips of that era also support Type 14 (tournament) reel chips, while some also support Type 12 (fever) games.

Most of the different SP chips of the same era and type basically work the same way, particularly for home users. Many of the changes were small bug fixes or responses to security weaknesses that were discovered in casinos. Other changes dealt with SAS or MISER, which we don't care about. What it comes down to is that the majority of the SP chips within the range of 600-1000 tend to have the same configuration set options and test menu functionality, and the newer chips (from somewhere around 1048 on) also tend to have the same traits.

There are exceptions, of course. In particular, those for special games, WAP games, and those for Barcrest games. (Although I think that the Barcrest features use the corresponding SET chip to setup the special Barcrest options.)
