I am very very new to all of this so please bear with me. I know some really basic stuff and terms but that's really as far as it goes. Anyway so I purchased a few machines (IGT S2000) and decided I wanted to do a RAM clear just to wipe everything clean and to try and learn how to do different things with the machine. So I followed the step-by-step instructions that were given to me with the machines, I used a chip that said "CLEAR" on it and another that said "KEY 17". When I finished the process the instructions said the machine should be good to go. Well it definitely wasn't. The first error it gave me was a GAME MISMATCH or something like that and then that eventually went away and now when you power it on it will go through all the tests like it normally did when it was working but after that the display reads "PLEASE SELECT WAMM OR IPC" Does anyone know what this means or what I need to do? Any help would be really appreciated. Also if you use technical terms could you please be specific because like I said I am very new to all of this so I may not know what your talking about. I will learn though eventually once I get used to everything and do more research. Thanks!!

Do just the key chip procedure.

In of of the 7.1 or 7.2 sub menus you have to pick WAMM.
I think it is communications or maybe accounting. I can not recall the exact menu though.
I could not get my machine to show the exact sub menu
Once you get it set you should not have to worry about it until you do a clear or change GME 1 and GME 2 chips.

This is also a sign that your Green battery on your MPU is dead or dying.  Remove the battery and due a full clear using a 097.

When you do a clear on a S2000, you have to specify the WAMM or IPC setting while in the key chip menu if the game chips requires it.

You also have to do so if you change game chip versions as well.

I am not talking about the Base chip. just the GME 1 & 2 chips, the OS of the S2000.

I had to set it when I went from 48 to 312 or 312 to 362.
I just cant remember when it appeared.
I just know it it was causing me the same tilt as the original post states.
The difference he did a clear, and I was upgrading the operating system.

It's probably related to the use of the 312 SG chip and the WAMM setting that Ken and Foster are talking about.  I have however had 2 cases in the past few months where I found removing the green battery permanently also solved the problem.  I don't understand the mechanics of it but perhaps there is some residual memory related to that setting that can't be cleared or settings changed until the battery is renewed or taken out.  As posted a few times on here the green battery causes other problems in the long term and should be taken off anyway.

Thanks Bettor Slots. Now that you mention it, I do recall reading that somewhere around here in the past. arrow

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll try some of them tomorrow and I will let everyone know the outcome. I don't understand some of the posts so if I can't get it up and running I may have to bug everyone again.

To try to answer a couple of your earlier questions:
I think "WAMM" stands for "Wide Area Money Managment" ( A lot to do with various machine accounting information)
and "IPC" means "Internal Player Controls" which has to do with embedded player tracking equipment.
I may be totally off base with this so I invite correction, if needed... propeller
My definition of "IPC" sounds like a little gnome inside your machine...lol
It may really mean something like "Internet Protocol Connection"...  rotflmao

Sweet! I got it up and running in about 10 minutes. All I had to do was toss in the key 17 chip and select WAMM and that was it. Now that its all cleared is it like having a brand new machine? Like will it have to take in a certain amount of credits before it hits the jackpot or does a clear not have anything to do with that? Thank you everyone for your help!
