Connected the keypad to change the credit type option and pressed keybd/clr.
All digits of the vacuum display went on and the two mpu-led keep blinking at high frequency.
Turned the machine off and restarted- no reset- no start.  bawling
I tried to do a ram clear – but nothing happens –the led keep blinking and the display burns brightly.

Thanks for any help   Hail

Hi mctuerk,

One tip is look to see that the CPU piggyback board is firmly plugged in.

Is your machine a 5000 or 5000 Plus?  Which method did you use to perform the RAM clear?

Hi Mark,

it's a 5000 (vacuum display) i have two of them. i just bought the keypad and used it for the first time.i'm afraid that i used the wrong one because someone on ebay offers a 5000 keypad that looks different from my keypad.
here is what i used - is it the wrong one?  Scratch Head
to clear the ram i always removed j1 to j14 (working with both machines)

Hay Manfred,

Sorry but I don't have any experience with the 5000 but in my 5000plus manual they show the keypad & it looks exactly like yours.  I see the one on Ebay & the seller said "3rd party keypad" so I assume its not a genuine Bally.  Maybe someone else here on NLG can confirm that for us.  BTW- do you have a 5000 manual & does it give you the programming procedure?  The 5000plus has one & it may be similar if not identical.

the ram clear by jumper setting is working no more. i put in the mpu from the working machine - no error. copied the u12+u15 from the working one - but no difference. do i need clear chips or are the game chips corrupt now?
