How do you clean contacts/switches?

light brush wtih emery board?

On my 1046, the light for the 5th pay line on the reel glass does not light up.  I put a new bulb in too.  The machine pays correct and works even though the light does not work.

Is this something that cleaning the contacts can take care of?

I use a strip cut from a heavy brown paper grocery bag. saturated in WD-40
Place it between the contact and pull it thru.
Never use emery  no

Thanks for the tip.  I'm on it.  I was thinking that would be too abrasive, but I'm pretty sure my last slot guy told me to use the emery board...

Thanks again!

I know that this is a slightly different issue, but you can also use the same technique with 90% isopropyl alcohol to clean chattering relays. Drag the paper between the metal plate and the metal surface of the electromagnet while pressing the plate against the EM with your finger (not too hard). Hope this might help down the road.

Went through the upper feature unit, but it didn't seem to make the 5th pay line light work.  I changed bulbs, but that didn't help either.  I may just have to wait until the slot tech can get out here..  Duh!

Sometimes the light socket itself is the problem.  Look close at the base of the bulb socket and see if the riveted contact tabs are tight.
