Does anyone know how to repair an IGT iGame when the mainboard causes the video to be scrambled on start up? I replaced the MPU with another machine and the problem goes away. I have also replaced all the software on the MPU and the problem is definitely with the MPU. I even checked the pins on the Eproms to make sure there isn't a bent pin. Any help will be appreciated.

look for cut traces around the eprom sockets.

It 's usually right where a savvy tech would pry up the eprom with a flat head screw driver but go under the stocket and dig into the board.

I have about 5 on the shelf right now to repair.

What were you doing when the prolem occurred the first time?  Define scrambled... does any video at all come up?  If video comes up it may be the monitor not the MPU.  Turning an I game off then back on again can cause a monitor that is about to die to clear up and act perfectly for a little while. Get the monitor straight and then leave it alone. If your problem reappears its the monitor. Try swapping monitors also. I think the problem is more likely to be here instead of the MPU.

Hi all,

Thanks for the reply, but I found the problem. It was the I960 Processor that caused the problem. I replaced it and now the board is fine again. It took me a good couple of hours to work through all of the boards I have to finally find the problem, but I am just happy it worked.

Regards
