All

I'm a new owner of a Bally ProSlot 6000 and have nearly read the entire manual that is posted (thanks to whomever posted it, tremendous information).  I believe there is a difference between a "PROM based" U28 and U43 SafeRAM clear and a "switch based" DS1 SW8 clear.  I've also been told that the PROM information/programming can be stored on the MPU such that a PROM based SafeRAM clear can be done via the DS1 SW8 method.  My preference would be to switch a DIP switch versus removing and replacing PROMs for a SafeRAM clear.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

I had no idea as to the importance of a set of SafeRAM PROMS when I purchased the machine (really means that I'm still trying to correct the error code 88 that resulted somehow from my wife's $100 at home win).  Does anyone know of any other information or materials that I might need for service and/or maintenance for this machine?  My goal is to be self sufficient and be able to enjoy and maintain my machine for the forseeable future (personally combating battery swaps every year and any of the occasional error code clears required).  This couldn't be harder than my 5 pinballs, 4 pachinkos, shufflebowler, juke box, and coke machine - could it?

Thanks

Tidge

The year of the Main Chips determine how the Ram is Cleared, the very early Mains used the Dipswitch method, most use Clear Chips and not all Clears sold will work with later Main's, you need to know what year the U-28 & U-43 are, it should be right on them, we offer the correct Ram Clear Chips with instructions if needed

Welcome to  nlg, Tidge!  You've found a great resource for helping to maintain and repair your slot machine.

Jim at Blueridge (who posted above me) is one of the great vendors who frequents the site -- get him the info he requested and he'll get you hooked up with either information or the clear chips you need to keep your machine in working order.

No, a ProSlot 6000 should not be tougher than a pinball machine to maintain.  Once you get it up and running, it should last quite a while.  ...and if it does break down, post here and our members will help you get it back up and running.

Please explore the site, and I'm sure that some of our members would be interested in seeing pictures of your game room!  There's a section of the forum (here) all about home game rooms -- a perfect place to share some pictures of your machines.   Please Post Pictures

Again, welcome!   applause

Thanks for the info and BlueRidgeSlots in Woodbridge isn't that far from me.  Is there a difference (besides year) between a reset by swapping chips and a reset by flipping the dip switch?  Also what can I expect a set of reset chips to set me back for?

I have sent the MPU back to the seller to be reset.  When I get it back I'll let you know about the dates on the chips.  The machine's date code on the serial number plate is  04/03 but I figure that is not tied to the chip dates at all.

Thanks

Well, hope that works, but the 6000 needs the Ram Cleared in the machine the board is staying in, as it initializes the reels after clearing to that set of reels, maybe it will work though
