I just got 2 Universals in a lot of junk - they are both TROPICANA - 3 line (see picture) - looks like a glorified Pashislo - only thing that works? is there is a light on the coin "comparitor"  - coin head won't take a quarter - so I have no idea what coinage.  I am open for offers if anyone wants them - I really don't but for something to do - will try to get them "running" for giggles and juckles  as they used to say.

It was strange the way Universal put the buttons on the front like that instead of going with deck top buttons.
Very different at that time.
What year was that machine made Foxsslots1?

by the way - its STRIPAA FISHIN for the non- bostonians out there.

since I can't read Japanese - there are numbers on the id 8529 is on both which may be 1985?  the other numbers are 103062 on one and 103078.   Haven't taken the p/s out yet or the mpus - just looking for some up front info.

There is a another section for all of you in the "lets make fun of something/somebody"  go to the RANTS topics and knock yourselves out.  thanks.

Sorry I took so long to reply.
Can you post a pic of the reels and the sound volume control? I think the newer Uni sound control is the same but the reels maybe different. Need a pic to tell.

i sent the board over to a friend to shotgun the sound section, new caps and amp and such, there is no volume control at all. i traced the wires from the speaker to the board and it goes into the connector and right to the sound section on the board. i will get the board back on Monday, hope that solved the problem....just never seen a game without a volume control....hope it doesn't blast me across the room with that gigantic speaker. here are some pictures of the reel assembly, the third reel chatters and sticks then it spins. it doesn't do it every spin but it happens most of the time. i swapped plugs from reel 2 over to reel 3 to make sure that it was the reel and not something on the board and he problem stayed with reel 3. thanks for helping and if you have a reel to sell please contact me.

The reel motors look like the 1985-2000 Uni's but the connector is different. The part # on my reel motors say OKI KHP-12M12E
Eight wires on square 9-pin connector. Three wires to an optic and five to the motor.

Check to make sure the reel isn't rubbing on the frame. The reel frame should be adjustable.

Uni's from 85-2000 have a separate amplifier with a volume knob located right of the reels with the meters.
