Well, A few months back we were all purchasing ELO Touchscreens off Ebay for $40.00, this was the start of me attempting a project of combining the touchscreen, a old trashed out PC, a 75 Watt per channel amp, old speakers, a totally homemade cabinet made from wood & a software project I would not like to have to repeat to run the whole show using a KISOK front end so the user has no access to the windows operating system. 

The final result is what you see here and Plays MP3's, Runs PC game software, displays photos and even plays DVD's

A very modified version of XLOBBY for the Main Front End and WINAMP for the sound.

DO YOU >> HAVE THE DIMMENSIONS OF THE TEMPLATE IN THE PICTURE <<  HANDY TO SHARE ??

I had  8 sheets  4 x 8 -feet of 3/4 inch birch finished plywood given to me to use for cabinets .
went to LOWES  picked up a 15 -feet  roll of white/green marble finish laminate that was busted on the end --first 1-3/4 " marked down to 15.00 bucks ....

I cloned a few chery master cabinets out of wood & metal -- then a buddy of mine runs a metal fab shop was producing them for me in countertop form out of metal for the barter system cost !!!

I just did the final grinding of mig welds and paint to make them look real factory .. Still have over a dozen minty bally cabinets to strip out and make
video slots - multi game - Merit & JVL -games added to the multi screen design .

tough  to find gloss black laminate at home depot or lowes marked down >>lol --unless it happens to fall off shelf with some help ???

if you have the dimensions that would be cool if not no biggy ..

Here ya go, I have a few more pics of the building process in much higher resolution zipped with a file size of 108,017 KB...Probally to big to upload here (i'll try) but if you want the file just PM me your email and I'll send it.  

There was no planning of this whatsoever and was built on the "fly" and I almost couldn't fit the touch screen in the dimensions I made it, you will see what I mean when you laugh at my first pics of the "idea" I had  

The whole thing was made from scrap plywood pulled from a dumpster and the only real expense was the 40 dollar touchscreen and the 10 dollars in paint and the 50 spent on the amp and a 30 pack..., everthing else was "salvage" stuff I had laying around

The cool thing I just found out is after I have selected some music to play, I can also hear the volume at half level for the slot games at the same time! as the MP3's

 let me dig up pictures will post later .. its ORGAN DONOR CITY !!  from microwave doors with tinted plexi free --- Japanese skill stop slots gutted out but use front door for belly glass and coin tray .

to large 3m printer bases on wheels for slot stands --

to slot machine top boxes used for counter top models .

plus all the great ideas and things you can place inside one cabinet --to play slot games - or video slots - or internet slots
to trivia games by MERIT -JVL -MIDWAY - ETC .

Starting from a touch screen base.

I purchased the ELO touch screen off of Ebay. They are a basic 15" LCD monitor that will work with any PC - the USB interface from these plugs into the PC and emulates a mouse.

I am using the Masque set of games. They work just fine with the touch screen and you have all the cool IGT, Williams, games etc.

If you are using one of the Pachi cabinets that were put forth by Rocket you will need a way of assigning the buttons on the front panel to emulate keystrokes.

I am NOT doing this with my touch screen project but for my Mame game table I am using a device called a KE72 which works fantastic for this.

Given that the Pachi cabinets are so light.......

if you were to cut the Pachi cabinet down to a 2" thickness (basically you would be left with just a shadow box - you could use this frame and the door and mount that to a wall.
Install a touch screen and a PC motherboard and you would be off to the races with a very cool wall mount look and feel.

Heck a new-2-you Pachi goes for <$75 - this makes a mighty cheap home brew cabinet.

I picked up 2 uptright Merit Megatouch game systems with 19" VGA touchscreen monitors. One will be rebuilt to play Megatouch games and the other will have the computer yanked out and replaced with a tiny P4 system running Windows XP and a decent sound card. Most likely I'll run it all from Compact Flash cards and one small hard drive for the memory swap space only.

Still not sure what to use for speakers... I might just try to cut some holes in the cab and mount them inside, but I'm afraid of shaking things loose.

As for software, I've settled on this: http://dwjukebox.com/ as there are a LOT of different skins that can be used.

Well, I found a super tiny P3 933 system with a laptop style CD drive and floppy and 256Mb of PC133 memory. It had bad caps on the motherboard so I replaced them. It was $10 for the PC and $20 for all the caps. I added in a 32Gb SSD drive and a PATA to SATA adapter. I originally put WinME on it but had to install WinXP to get the touchscreen to work with DWJukebox.

The touchscreen controller is serial and requires a separate 12v DC feed. One quick 5.25 to 3.5" power adapter for the PC allowed me to connect the controller to the computer's power supply.

For speakers I bought the Creative Labs CT3130 speakers (http://www.frys.com/product/6079368) and used the sub/amp. The satellite speakers wouldn't fit in the cab so I picked up a pair of Philmore replacement 4" shielded speakers which fit perfectly in the speaker mounts on the cabinet. They were 8 ohm vs the 4 ohm for the Creative Labs speakers but it didn't matter as they sounded great when finsihed. One quick 12' long 1/8" stereo to 2 RCA plug cable later and the speakers were hooked up with enough cable to plug into the amp on the subwoofer. The sub got screwed into the cabinet to keep it from moving and vibrating badly then everything was plugged in.

I had to rewire the 120v power distribution in the cab since the old gear in it had the power going through the mini-AT style power supply and using it's switch connections to power up the monitor. The new PC was soft-on so it was set to power up upon power loss and DWJukebox was configured to shut down the PC when the <Esc> key is pressed.

I ordered a new marquee from Game On Grafix (http://www.gameongrafix.com/products/jukebox-marquee) sized to fit the Megatouch cabinet and it arrived on Saturday.

It's working and sounding beautiful! Now all I need to do is scrap a PS/2 keyboard so I can wire up the standard arcade button I put on the top of the cab by the power switch as the <Esc> key.
