when does a progressive hit?

my s2000 has a 1,140,000 on its progresive.... will my s2000 have to collect over a mil before it decides to hit? so far my machine colected 550k and it paid out around 140k under accounting.... will it ever hit the progressive?

Progressive units don't affect the odds of any outcome on the slot machine -- ever. The odds of hitting it are precisely the odds of hitting the combination(s) on the slot that trigger the progressive. It makes no difference what starting amount was programmed into the progressive, to what increment percentage the progressive was set, or what current value is displayed.

If you want to know the odds of it hitting, look at the PAR sheet for the game installed in the machine. Look at the specific wins that trigger the progressive (usually the top win, but not always). IGT PAR sheets have a "P" to the right of the payout amount (in the "Pays" column) for wins that trigger can progressives.

Also, keep in mind that slot machines operate under the theory of independent trials. That means that what has happened in the past has no bearing on what will happen now or in the future. The odds of hitting the jackpot are the same for every spin, regardless of whether you just hit the jackpot five minutes ago, or haven't hit it in years.
