Hello all!

Nevermind about the 2nd link - I made it even easier.  I just downloaded all the pages and combined them it into one pdf which I have uploaded to the new files section (Universal Manual.pdf).  Uniman, take a look Smiley

Thanks Dan 2, I will download it tomorrow at my son's house, save it and bring it home. To download that file on my dialup would take 45 minutes minimum!!!!!  Duh!
Is it a standard manual? Already have a few of those.  arrow
Thanks for all the trouble! Nice to get one on the site!

Thank you Dan #2.  applause  I had started to download the pictures to make a pdf for Uniman before reading that you had already done it.

Did you use the odd or even numbered jpegs?
He used the even numbered ones for the main html page showing the whole manual, but the odd numbered ones were the larger (in pixels) set of images.

Hi guys, I'm in desperate need of a universal manual as I bought a 1987 Universal Pacific 1000 Slot machine and dnt know much about these machines. I got it figured out some how, its working, only a few bulps dead, but the door switch isnt making any effect, open or closed.
I like the way when you press the service button inside the machine, i can then adjust all kind of setting on the outside on like a menu using the play buttons. adjusted the payout persentage to 100% haha!....seems like when I play, it pays out, but not corresponding to what the reels say...How do I fix this?  Would really like a manual....prepared to pay for it!  I see someone sayd they loaded one in to the new files section....where can I find that?

Many thanks for an awesome forum....learned so much from reading here....now its time to restore my machine and keep you guys updated on my finds!
Thanks again

Welcome to NLG - Can you post some pics of the machine ?. Is pacific the game theme or the manufacturer?
Pacific games were manufactured in OZ and the company was purchased by Universal (Now Aruze). Thats about all that I have been able to find out about the company. I have seen the Sirius and Emax models but not the one you are referring to

Hello Mike

Your email is SA but assume you are in Oz. Lekker to see another South African here. Finding a manual for that machine may be a mission but once we have some I have visual info we may  be able to offer some ideas.

Hey,
I still live in SA... In Port Elizabeth! Got the machine from a farm just outside PE, guy says he bought it at a auction. Payd R600 for it.
Jip, I'm actually afrikaans.
Another guy that had some of these machines said to me that it was imported from las vegas years ago from casinos there that upgraded their machines.
Could that be tru?
Heres some more pics

Hello Mike

Sorry - No I dont. The manual being referred to here is for the Universal 8116. They had about 90% market share in the homeland casino days. Your machine is something different - could be something that Universal used to build the 8116 on as some things look familiar. Whats strange is that you have reelstrips and glass for an IGT game. Thats like having a BMW engine in a Mercedes - Will send the 8116 manuals and you can see if there are any similarities to yours.

When you say youll send it...do you mean by e-mail?

Many many thanks
Baie Dankie!

Dnt understand why the reel strips and glass is from igt, maybe someone changed it sometime.

What bothers me is that the reel positions dont correspond to the winnings or what it pays out.

Weereens dankie!

Njoy your weekend!!!

Very Greatfull Mike.

That is an Aussie made Universal. Very much different from the 8116. They did copy IGT graphics. IGT must have had no copywrites overseas?
Believe the machine has an 8600 board.
To the best of my knowledge the 8600 games were not in US casinos. I'm sure IGT would have filed a lawsuit for copying their graphics if they were distributed in the US.
Several of that type of machine pop up here in the USA though. (Just ask NLG member Buzz.  rotflmao)
But no manuals.

The only person I ever knew who had good knowledge of this type of machine was a member called Dupuhini. And he was from SA too! Have not heard from Dupuhini last two years.  Scratch Head

Thank you very much for the manual sent!

Yes, i had a look on the mpu board and there is a number....  8600-A3F.
Different to the machine in the manual. the one in the manual has led displays on the inside of the cab to show some data like total coins in and out etc.
but on my machine, if i press the service button, i go on the outside with the play/bet buttons, i go into a menu where i can do reel adjustments and input and output tests,
payout percentage adjustment from 50% to 100%. and then all data meters can be checked and reset. there are a few other tests and adjustments as well.

Wish there was a complete manual on this machine, i'm sure that there must have been something when the machine came out in 1987.....another thing,
when i press the service button to go into the menu....it says on the screen...software copywrite 1994! why is the machine made in '87 but software in '94,
maybe the soft has been upgraded?

Hello Mike

As per Unimans post (And he is an expert on Universals) the two are completely different. I was hoping there were some similarities between the models and the manual would point you in the right direction but unfortunately not the case. I am wondering if this is not something that was modified at some stage. No gaming jurisdiction would allow for a 50% Hold. Apart form it nor registering wins correctly is everything eles working correctly?

Hi,

Yes everything else seems to be working fine....only a few bulps that i need to replace.
Oja....On the coin in mechanism...excuse my technical name, dnt know  much bout these machines, but on the black box where the coins passes through,
there is a piece of papers stuck into a lever thats on a solenoid to keep the coins from going to one side, registering the coins. if i take the paper out, the coins just fall out into the bucket again, not registering them. Then the door switch doesnt look like its been bypassed or something but it is not doing anything.

the coins that i do put in doesnt go into the hopper, they just fall into the bottom of the door, after they registered.
Thanks for the help

Hey Guys!

Here is a picture of the rhs inside of the machine, i know the yellow button is the service switch, which i press to get into the menu. the black sound knob is to adjust sound level.
the green button says test sw - what is that for? then there is a key switch that says hopper reset empty sw - What is that for?. and then there is a red button - what is that for?
Hope you can help me figure this out. I'll be taking this machine step by step and learn everything and fix her up before  i strip here down and clean.

Many thanks

Mike

here is 2 pics of the coin unit. Is it complete? This is front and rear....it just clips out with a lever...do you maybe know what type of coin unit it is?
can you see there is a piece of paper stuck into thet solenoid lever to keep it pulled in so the coins wont fall right through and out again. Why would that be?

this picture shows the unit that the coin passes through after its gone through the previous unit. there are 3 optical sensors.. the top two has lights that come on, but not the bottom one. looks like its been damaged. then there is a solenoid to the left that hasent worked yet....what is it for?
Thanks for all the help.

Best regards
mike
