I tried to post to my original post"General Question on Canadian Bill Acceptor" and was getting nowhere (*&^%$^&^%) dial up, so I'll start again. It's a project now, I got the machine. The validator seemed to cycle up when I turned the machine on, and the green led lights in the front were flashing. Just for fun I inserted a U.S. dollar to see if it would accept it, nothing, did not even take it in.  I cleaned the machine up and took the assembly out to take pic's, which I will post so others can get an idea what I have and what I might need to change it over. After cleaning and putting it back together the acceptor cycles up and the green led's stay on. I tried another dollar an it accepted the bill then rejected it out, I knew it wouldn't register credits, but at least it took it. I found a coin shop with a Canadian bill. They only had  a dollar and the acceptor reads 5,10,20,50,100 so it didn't like that either. Here are some pics, I might be slow to answer responses, Im on vacation and my wife has a gazillion honey-do"s for me, but I will check and respond back as soon as I can

Well being from Canada.......

We haven't used a $1.00 bill in about 12 years. We have a $1.00 coin called a Loonie, due to a picture of the Loon (our national bird). We also elimianted the $2.00 bill with a Toonie (not kidding about the names). The Toonie is unique as a coin as it uses two different metals.... when the first came out the joke was that if you wore a pacemaker that the diaeletric properties (small amounts of electicity emitted through the bonding of any two dis-simillar metals)  could cause issues, so never walk around with more than $20,000 in your breast pocket....

$5, ... would be the smallest bill accepted....

When I lived in Pa, I went to the Mellon bank and tried to get C$ currency and they told me it was special order and I had to wait 4weeks. You can walk into any Canadian bank and get Euros, pounds or US dollars. Some of the lesser currencies like Swiss Francs may take a day or two, but a week is unherad of much less 4. I had a buddy give me a $100 cheque for my kids Christmas presents. I took it to the bank - it took 6 weeks to clear, and a $40 service fee. At the time the C$ was 0.65 to the U$ so I got $25.00 - after arguing with the bank manager for an hour they reversed the charges. Last time I did that. I found the US banks to be very archaic compared to the services we have here. I was used to paying my Visa bill on the day it was due via Internet banking - In the US it was taking 7 days to process as they actually created a paper transaction. Our pay anyone feature was instanteous and was account to account etc. We have inter-act (debit cards) - no service fees ever, we have national banks and can use our cards to withdraw money with no service fees anywhere in Canada. Citibank was about the only nationwide bank but branches were few and far between. National Bank in the states means that they are licensed to do business Nation Wide - not that they have a presence.

The Canadian Acceptor will need to be swapped (along with the transport and even cash can).... Assuming you could get the US software to load the sensors and windows are in the wrong place.
What kind of acceptor do you have ... There are several of us that might be willing to swap you for it....

Ah.... just noticed the picture... you have a CBA (older). Most of us would be looking for a WBA (world Bill Acceptor) that can handle the new money....

   Thanks for the info on Canadian money, what you described sounds just what I heard from my bank when I ask about the bills. I am interested in changing it over to U.S. bills if its possible, I have nevered tinkered with a Williams before, this is my first machine I would guess that Canadian money has change over time and needs the more advance (wba) as our U.S. machines and their upgrades. It should not be a huge effort to change.

You need a new bill acceptor, transport and cashcan.
US money is more narrow than Canadian (thats why the transport and cashcan).

A DBV200 should work fine on a Williams.
On the IGT S+ series, IGT stopped authorizing (paying) JCM for software releases related to the new bills as they are trying to kill off the platform.
On other platforms this is not the case.

You may however want to consider something newer because the new colored US $100 is right around the corner and the magnetic sensors for the new style inks don't exist in the 200 and it is questionable if this bill will be supported.

My suggestion would be to contact any of the vendors on our home page as all should be able to set you up with the right parts and if you mention your from NLG they usually offer a discount.

Again Thanks for all the information, Guess I need to post a WTB for the items you mentioned, anyone following this topic I would be interested in hearing from them to convert this to a U.S. bill acceptior.

Jake  I think I have what you need to change over, I'll take some pictures tomorrow. Here is what becomes the problem, the 2 slots that guide the DBV head on a Canadian chassis are
2 1/4" apart on a US chassis 1 1/4 apart. meaning you have a couple of choices. You can use the Canadian chassis by drilling a US DBV head and moving the 4 screws wider apart. You can cut the front piece that has the slots in it from a US chassis and weld it onto your Canadian chassis. ( Canadian also has to be cut off) The 3rd option would be to change the entire chassis, DBV head and transport. I have done this all 3 ways and I can tell you the 3rd option is the easy way. One thing for sure the Canadian transport can NOT be used on a US BV head, completely different wiring plugs. I suppose if your name was Bunker you could rewire one. It's also pretty hard to make a chassis out of a standard cabinet Bally 5500 work, but with a lot of cutting it can be done.

Jake now that I have dazzled you with all this BS (but it's all true) You pay the shipping and I will send you the chassis, transport, and cash can. I wont send you a DBV 145 SG bacause they were junk the day they were made. Pick up a 200 from someone.

   That's an offer I can't refuse, send me an e mail and we can work out the details. I did notice from your pic's of the transports, the Canadian one has three plugs and the U.S. one has two. Is that going to present a problem. Just wondering.

The US transport only has one plug, I know it kind of looks like two but only one.  It isn't going to cause you any problems because I'm sending you the US transport, chassis and cash can.
( the cash can, I bypass the micro switch and do not use one) The one and only thing you are going to need is a BV head, I suggest  A DBV 200 ( I will send you a 145 that works half ass)
