CLEANING NON CLEANABLE REEL STRIPS WORKAROUND!

I found a way to clean my non-cleanable reel strips.
Cover the symbols with plastic (just cover not tape it or whatever)
then I got some cleaning spray (transparent inox/anti-fat) and clean everything that's left over,
and that is, if you do a good job, all the white. In the picture : top strip is the cleaned one. I found out
that in some cases you can cover the symbols with tape, but I peeled of a little bit of white
with it (just one case) so be carefull handle with care! All this info is for your own risk, but if your strips
are really dirty this can be a good way to get them look much cleaner.

Can you give us a few more details?  What kind/thickness plastic did you use? Where did you buy the cleaner (I've never heard of it)? Do you have to wipe the white to clean it, and if so, did you hold each piece of plastic in place as you did it? How did you keep the liquid spray from seeping underneath the plastic covers that you laid down?

Interesting indeed.  I dabbed my finger in some water and barely touched a white portion of my reels.  My reel strips would turn into jelly if I attempted to spray or wet clean any portion of the strip.  They do look awesome though.  Great job!

Here are some pix, first pic is how it looks (example strip this one is a normal one that is cleanable)
then cover the symbol with a thin plastic sheet (I used a lamination sheet)
then wipe over the plastic away from the symbol (in this case to the top of the image), or from left to right.
Don't press too hard, just wrub until it's white if I put too much pressure in it the dirt sticked even more to it,
you should let the cleaner do it's work, the In the next post I show what I used, it's to clean your stove and other metal objects.
Here that is a little bit foamy, but I live in The Netherlands so...

First pic is what stuff I used, it's smelly stuff I think it's based on amonia, if that's an US word.
2nd is where it COULD go wrong, not covered the symbol enough, see the top.

Ok the story continues ... I decided to print new symbols on transparent plastic.
Bottom  is refurbished top is old, they absolutely look like new now, and the best part is that it's still lights up
