Don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have a related question. I have a Bally three quarter multiplier, an IGT S+, a Bally "TwentyOne" video slot, and a CEI Video Poker slot. They are all plugged in individually and not close enough to be in one power strip. What rating surge protector should I use? Right now, I have each one in low cost surge protectors I got at Big Lots!

The older Bally's like the Proslot 5500 and 6000 are notorious for eating up MPU batteries.

Reading this makes me want to start a new rants and raves post.    Although the S5500 had a hunger for batteries, the S6000 batteries can last up to 10 years, sometimes more.  The S-Plus is a mizer for batteries. 

Bunker, How many S6000s have you had that had a new battery and didn't last long due to their hunger?

I've never seen a Bally 6000 die.
While I've "heard" or "read" about Bally 5500 having battery problems -
I've always thought that they could be modified very easily using a battery pack/holder.
Also, I'm sure that you are right about the Bally 6000's being long-lifers. 
It was an honest mistake and assumption on my part to conclude that
the 6000's behaved the same way. 
I was wrong.

From now on - you are the man that the Bally guys are going to
have to wait for an answer to their questions! 
You never make any mistakes when talking about slot stuff.

Any computer/electronics surge protector is fine. If you look around you'll even find some single recepticle protectors for machines that aren;t close together. I use both because some of my machines are several feet apart. Got mine at Radio Shack.

  Very interesting reply.  
   I do make mistakes, just like everyone else.  I have seen several people make statements similar, and perhaps my long hours lately have my tolerance level down.  Nevertheless I think you're a hell of a guy and only meant to give you a slap, not a knee to the groin, so man up and walk it off.    No need to stop trying to help others.  I just don't want people to pass the S5500 judgement down to the solid platform of the S6000, and when someone respected as much as yourself makes a judgement statement, people believe it to be true.  I'm not sure how you'll take this, but don't mean it in a bad way.
