Bally 809

my bally 809   works fine except for coin three pay out it's a 5 coin 5 cent machine coins 1,2,4,and five pay out OK but coin 3 on three bars or any three bars will empty the hopper. can any one help

Check your X3 unit in the top.  If the 2 wiper fingers are not touching the X board, it will dump the hopper.
Also, make sure the solenoid controlling the x-unit is pulsing.  You should hear it, or undo the top unit lightboard screws, lay it down, and watch what the x-unit does during a pay.

I checked the two wipers on the X3 board and cleaned them that fixed the hopper empty problem
now the pay out is incorrect it payed 100 coins instead of 300 did I leave the stepper in the wrong position or is something else wrong

What pay do you have set up for 300 coins?
What are the symbols, and how many coins played?
Sometimes Bally had odd ways of paying off over 200 coin pays.
Are you sure it is supposed to pay 300, or is it supposed to lock up at over 200?
