Hi all,
I've got a pair of Bally 6000's with WBA13's. Can someone tell me where this chip is on a WBA13? I've poked around a little and don't see one. Also, does anyone know where I can get the latest?

Thanks,

just pull out the transport and head then turn the unit upside down and under the head on the transport you find the chip. Ben

There are instances where the head might be labeled as a WBA13, but you actually have a WBA12 transport, in which case it's flash based and you will not see an eprom in the transport, but rather a flash chip (which is a surface mounted thin chip).

I admittedly don't know the differences. I might snap some pics and post them tomorrow.

Thanks.

If it is a WBA -12 it will look just like the 200 head you have with the flash chip, we can do them as well, the WBA 12/13 for the Bally 6000 can be upgraded to take the new $5

Folks I snapped a few quick pics this morning. If I am looking at the right spot, I don't see a socketed chip, only surface mount....here is what I have:

One of these is listed as a WBA-13, the other is a WBA-12-13.
Also, one of my machines does not take any bills at all. It pulls them in, waits a second and spits it back out. If the bill info is in the head as shown in the pics  (I am guessing what I show in the pic is the head) should I not be able to just swap the heads between machines? I ask, because I tried swapping heads and the problem stayed with the machine.

Thanks,

YOU ARE SHOWING THE HEAD LOOK UNDER THE TRANSPORT.

Unlike the DBV you were were on before, the WBA has the Memory in the Transport NOT the Head, the head is the same for WBA 10, 11, 12, &13, you have to flip the transport upside down and look at the board where the harness from the back connector plugs into, that is where the chip or socket will be, DO NOT go by any sticker on the outside of the unit unless on the chip, the same WBA can be used in any application by reconfiguring, the software is probably not for your machine, by swapping the Head on this unit didn't change the software, if you take some pics we will help you identify

Thanks everyone. I will try to get the transport out tonight. From what  I remember, the last time I looked at it, it wasn't very obvious as to how to remove the transport. I will spend a little time on it tonight.

Just pull the flat square bar downward and forward at the same time, it will pull out much easier than the head did

Thanks again for the help folks...no need for pics as I have socketed chips. One is labeled:

WBA-13 Bally
ID-003 V3.60
(D4BA) 4M

The other is:
WBA12-13(708Dh)
ID-003 USA V3.75

Does anyone know where I can get the latest version chips for these units?

Thanks.

The 3.75 is for the New $5, but that checksum isn't correct, should be C9AB, the 3.6 is for the New$10, if you want to update the 3.6 one to the new 5 let me know, are they not accepting bills or something?
