I just picked one of these games and the guy I bought it from says it has a dead battery.
It has a 213 memory error when you turn it on, and will clear when you do a factory reset.
It works fine after the reset on free play.
I read an older post on here -
http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=111.0

Is says not to replace the battery otherwise you will lose everything, no other explaination is given.
Can anyone tell me what the story is behind this?...what exactly happens?
It is just a 1/2 AA battery like the ones on slot boards.

I have no idea why bunnyslots said he lost everything by battery replacement ??its a cd-rom run game with a battery back up and a RTC =real time clock chip .
i have forty of them check out my profile pictures if you think i am kidding ..

just replace the battery but test it first it should be 3.6 volts . if it is holding 3.6 volts then the RTC  is bad which is the black chip on the board with the words dallas chip etc .

or you can keep hitting the factory re-set which is a pain in the ass and once you turn off machine you lose all settings because the battery is dead ..

but why it was posted if you replace the battery you lose everything i have no clue ??

i just know what i know and have worked on that model for yrs ..the concorde 2 is a under rated machine as far as games and is a nice unit . its the cabinet design with the monitor not at a good play angle -that jvl corrected after concorde 1 & 2 .

if you have a spare desk top touch screen elo or 3m it will work on both makers --if you go up to concorde 3 and up to 8 they only will work on 3m touch screens . just a bit of info .

So you have changed the battery in one of these without any problems?
I have noticed that the time does stay correct in the machine when I power it on and off.
If the battery is dead, would that happen?

as i said check out my profile pics i had added the picture of the same two board boards in your machine.

test the battery voltage of the 1/2 size AA bat with machine off - if its 3.6 volts then its ok . i would find a RTC -CHIP which are hard to find at times for those
some only have 4 legs and 2 legs not a normal equal row of legs on both sides . the RTC -CHIP has a battery built inside it .
its a non service item --if you heat it up it will explode in your face .

but as far a battery replacement i have done dozens without problem . as i said its a cd-rom based game -all the games info is stored on the cd-rom - the settings are just held with the battery .

so if you hit factory re-set and the game boots to the screen factory re-set .you hit the button again quick it will load all info off disc to play . after its on then hit reset again and you can adjust all your settings and turn on erotic ect . set diff color screen -billboards etc enable game time longer or shorter etc .

no problem with battery replacement its a cd-rom based game -

The real time clock chip can be replaced yes .it is just a item that you can't take apart yourself and repair. They are tough to locate sometimes depending what model chip is in your board

MAINTENANCE
The cabinet and touchscreen monitor should be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
Do not use any abrasive solvents, acid or vinegar-based cleaners on the monitor.
Such cleaners could harm the touchscreen over time.
FACTORY RESET PROCEDURE
• Turn machine OFF. Wait a few seconds then turn machine on.
• When you
see the message JVL and Loading appear on the screen press and hold down the
Setup Button in the cash box near the mechanical counter.
• Hold the button down for approximately 15 seconds and the Factory Reset Screen
will appear.
• The screen will instruct you to release the Setup Button and press it down again
immediately.
• When you press it down for the second time you should hold it down until the
display reads Factory Reset Successful.
• The screen will display Release Setup Button. Release the Setup Button and the
game will load up as normal with all the game parameters reset to Factory Settings.
• If a red message stating Factory Reset Aborted you probably released the Setup
Button for too long before pressing it down again.
• Try the procedure again until completed successfully.
SERVICE STARTUP MODE
• Turn off the main power switch.
• Hold down the Setup Button on the cash unit side beside the mechanical counter.
• Turn the power switch on.
• Hold the setup button down until you see a picture on the display.
• This procedure will display information to help troubleshoot machine problems.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
NO SCREEN DISPLAY:
• Check that the machine is receiving power by visually inspecting the indicator
LED’s.
• If both the red (+5VDC) and the yellow
(+12VDC) are illuminated proceed to
section 2.
• If the LED’s are not illuminated, check
for AC line voltage, blown line fuse,
blown power supply fuse, or defective
power supply.
POWER SUPPLY BUT NO PICTURE:
• Press the Video Enable Button on the
Page 32
CONCORDE 2
Back Plane Board.
• This will display the error condition that is disabling the machine.
• If you are receiving any CMOS setup errors, attach a keyboard to the CPU Board
and reset all the parameters.
• If nothing is displayed still, then the problem is likely to be on either PCB.
MACHINE STOPS AT LOADING SCREEN:
• If the machine will not proceed past the loading screen upon startup, restart the
machine in the Service Startup Mode.
• Check for error messages that are being displayed near the bottom of the screen. It
may take a couple of minutes for the message to be displayed.
• If you receive an error message stating “Read Fault Error Reading Drive E: Abort,
Retry, Fail”, open the CD-ROM drive tray and remove the CD-ROM and inspect for any
damage or dirt.
• Clean the disk if dirty, reinsert the disk into the drive unit, and close the drive tray.
• Restart the machine in Service Startup Mode and see if the error persists.
• If you receive the same error message, the CD-ROM drive may be defective.
FAULT CODES:
DISK READ ERRORS
• If you are experiencing any of the following error codes, or the machine takes a very
long to load the games, the disk should be cleaned.
• Code Numbers: 43, 63, 90, 94, 95, 97, 170, or 241.
MEMORY ERRORS
• The following error codes will cause the game not to start up.
• Code Numbers: 201, 211, or 213.
• If the mechanical counter is constantly advancing and will not stop.
• Performing a Factory Reset will rewrite the memory and correct the above problems.
TOUCH SCREEN ERRORS
• Error 209 is caused by a problem with the touch screen, or touch screen controller.
• Check that the controller is correctly connected to the lower COM Port on the CPU
Board.
• Check that the LED on the controller is not flashing an error code and that it is responding
to touch.
COIN JAM ERROR
• Error 210 is caused by a problem with the coin sensor.
• Check for coins blocking the optical sensor.
• The error could occur only when a coin is inserted into the machine and the sensor is
blocked.
• If error 210 occurs as soon as the machine is powered up, unplug the sensor board
from the wire harness and restart machine.
• If the machine starts up okay with no error message, then replace defective coin sensor
board.

THIS BELOW IS FAULT CODES
this is what puzzled me why bunnyslots said if a dead battery is replaced you lose everything ????????

if the battery is dead then you lose all settings after machine is turned off

then just perform a factory re-set after battery is replaced

there is a serial number on disc that has to be entered to play with money or tokens
or set it on free play and add credits as needed.

its a cd-rom based game >>ALL INFO IS ON THE CD <<
unless he had a copied cd ?? without the lic. number to enter ??

FAULT CODES:

• If you are experiencing any of the following error codes, or the machine takes a very

Ray,

ok thats sounds great the battery is confirmed dead .. ok before you replace battery if you want?

most times  it wont work with dead battery --you wonder where the serial number is ??
on my first picture  posted it says register or continue ??HIT REGISTER

the game serial number will appear etc on screen enter it see if it takes it ?? most likely not with dead battery .
but after you replace battery --just do this and hit factroy reset
and set your game to your custom settings and your done ..

if all else fails after you relpace battery ad it wont accept the serial number hit the option on right !!

it will let you play in demo mode without $$$ as in bills or coin -but when you turn machine on & off with new battery you will not lose settings

any trouble email me direct while you can before the guys with suit that goes on backwards come to visit me --to get work done on me .

this is the view for others not familiar with the battery location on a JVL CONCORDE 1 OR CONCRDE 2 SERIES boards etc

the machine is cd-rom based with two  vertical edge connector boards ------one with db-9 ------9-pin for touch screen cable.
the other is for 15-pin vga connector .

at base of board are two re-set buttons on base mount mother board .

so in future if anyone gets this screen code 201-211--210-213

the screen will look like first picture

do a factory re set holding down the black button by the coin optics or at base of mother board
it will guide you into factory reset -release button quick --then rehit the button you will get the second picture posted . game will boot and load settings to play .

approx 1--2 mintes later hit the black reset button again -it will let you into game options -to enable all games or just some .
turn on erotic and leave on -----or set times for it to operate when your not around for kids safety

so you may program it to have erotic come on after 10-pm etc ad turn off at 2-am that way kids never know its on .

you can set up billboards of your choice --screen colors -time of game -dificulty of game -texture of screen view - etc etc etc .

Thanks for all the info!!
I have the 1st disc you have pictured there.
I have an extra new 1/2 AA battery laying around, I think I will try it in the next few days.
I really do not care about using coins or bills, but it would be nice if it kept all the settings and high scores.
