The most popular gaming machine in history.

"In December 1996, IGT debuted what is still the most popular gaming machine of all time: the Wheel of FortuneĀ® progressive slot. Wheel of FortuneĀ® slots have paid more than $2.1 billion in major jackpots, and the theme has been adapted to a number of variations - from the nine-station Wheel of FortuneĀ® Super Spinā„¢ video slot and its five-station variation to a Multi-Level Progressive version.

The year 1998 produced important new product innovations as IGT introduced Triple Play Draw PokerĀ® through a partnership with Action Gaming, which strengthened IGT's domestic video poker market share of nearly 90%; and the ELVISĀ® slot, which followed on the success of the Wheel of FortuneĀ® machine. In 2005, IGT unveiled its first multi-level progressive product, Fort KnoxĀ®."

I will come to IGTs defense .......

IGT has to be the most popular gaming company because they purchased everyone else......and destroyed any possibility of diversity and innovation in the industry.

They sue anyone that infringes on any of their designs and rule the industry through bullying tactics. They own 3 of 4 of the major casino management systems and the one that they don't own they have made incompatiable with their platform by refusing to license their technology.....

At one point in the early 80's I remember reading that IGT was on the brink of going under. Si Redd hired a guy(can't remember his name) to revive the company. The rest is history. They did and are stepping on anyone in their way. But you can't argue about their success.
It was Anchor Gaming who designed The Wheel of Fortune and course IGT bought them.
Really think the WAP's saved their hides. Big cash cow!

Way to come to the defense of IGT Jay.  bust gut laughing

is that the same method behind MONPOLY ??
buy up all the land around you ? IN IGT they purchased all the design  ideas good and bad and just hold custody of them .
so no one else can use the design to make a profit ..>>>>>KEEPS IGT ON TOP .

but the old saying is at some point the mighty will fall ..

I would not be surprised a company  the size of IGT does not just sell out to the CHINESE within 5 years or less ??
and it will go down in hstory books as being on the top for gaming machines for >>>X<<<amount of years .

then the CHINESE will bring back the coin slot again --made of plastic at 2/3 less weight than any IGT version now .

then IGT will have some minor stipulation in there sales contract ----then start shop right back up under TGE --THE GAME ENGINEERS and we will have them again..

any bets ??????
