Is your base eprom and original IGT eprom or a copy?
That could be the problem though I'm suspecting an MPU component starting to go bad...
It's sounds like the CMOS won't retain it's settings anymore.
Almost like you're performing a "clear".
How's the MPU battery?
Did you check it with a multi-meter to see what the voltage is?

Yes, something's big time wrong...
It's either the battery or a power supply.
I'm not sure what though.
Better post all the details you can see...esp. codes popping up on screen.
There's a history test for errors and problems
You gotta find out how to perform those tests and get the error history
out of the machines accounting menus as well and post those too.
That may help members pin point the problem.

I had a Double Diamond do this to me. I removed all the chips from the mpu board and re-seated them. Ran through the frc error crap and whatever then it's worked fine since then. Been like 6 months and no problems. Seemed to end up being a ram chip error because it wasn't seated properly. Good luck!

I assume you checked for the 3v on the battery. If it's good, check all the plugs going to door io board and displays. Pull mpu out and re-seat all the chips. My Cleo went dead the other day with all the lights flashing and it was a loose plug on the door IO board. The error code you get on the display I really think is a chip problem though. If nothing else it eliminates possibilities

Staz,

I don't know how you expect to get the machine up and running
without answering the questions other members suggest like the battery for one.
Check the voltage on the coin cell battery located at position BT1
Also if you have a flashing red amber led the board needs to be ram cleared
unless you find a chip that might not be seated properly
did you check the MPU for any bent pins on the back ?
The supply could also be loose or a loose harness somewhere
if your going to have these machines it's a must to have back up boards
and the key+clear chip it's that simple.

i didnt test the battery yet and i have to get a voltage meter, i might just replace the battery, i just cant understand what could of happened to the board.... like tonight i turn it on it cycles through then it said netplex link is down then it said netplex testing memory and it cycled through and i played it for a while then it just goes blank if it idles more then 3 minutes the progressive blanks out the netplex board blanks out all i see is 1 green light and 2 amber with a flashing red light ...... what are the odds of that being a battery issue?

No, not the green battery. You can remove the green battery and not install a new one.

You need to check or replace the coin-shaped battery, top middle of the first picture.

Staz,

Looking here in your first post I do see a clue in the error message. Every time I got that message it was related to the 40 pin base eprom either having problems or not being installed well. Do you have a backup chip that you can try, or can you make sure that it is properly seated? That is the enhanced S2K mph board with the legacy adapter daughter board. If you use proper static protection you can take that board off to get a better look to make sure that the base eprom is properly installed and fully seated. For some stupid reason they use machine pin socket inserts which are a pain. All of the others are regular eprom sockets. Also the base chip location is bad for installing and removing base chips became the tray gets in the way. I would have designed it differently! Another thing is that your widowed eprom do not have labels to cover the windows to prevent unwanted erasure.....

Just another thought....  You can check your battery voltage as well as has been suggested.

I don't think you can do this on the Enhanced CPU's (eliminate the Ni-Cad Battery) like is possible on the regular (501, 502, 504) CPU

I'm with Jim on this. Thats not a 50* series board, it may serve a different or extended service than on the standard S2000 boards. Staz if you are looking for a different board, since you are using eprom/Simm programming, I would suggest a 504 board and MML II instead of getting another R board. Those reel boards have the same flash corruption volatility as the video 044's. Of course if you go to the 50* series MPU, you will have to change out the backplane. Jim, could that conversion daughterboard cause that problem? Maybe that is the problem and not the MPU? I know there are some I game programs that will not work with the eprom/Simm daughterboard with the 044 MPU.

I'm running the same game as Staz and am not having any problems with it.
Of course, I have the older 504 MPU.
You will never see any of my chips without labels covering the UV erasure glass.
He needs a spare known good MPU board to swap it out with the other one
to rule out the possibility of a failing power supply box.

I believe that board has to have the green battery installed for the machine to work unlike the other 50x series boards.

Didn't read down the list far enough .. see Blueridge's message.

What functions are handled by the green battery on the enhanced boards? arrow
