I have a E2000 model #1213... I finally got this machine working except for the Divertor coil under the coin mech will not energize and close when the machine is first turn on until you either push the rest on the Hopper control board, or put a coin in and spin the reels one time. After that it energizes and the machine operate correctly. I have hear and seen the divertor coil close then open up again when it is turned on, but it never stays energize?

that is the way the divertor works - will not activate until after the first handle pull.

So that means that the first coins always going to go down the over flow shoot? That seem strange, but if it's normal not much I can do about it. I guess I could block off the over flow or just adj the coil to stay closed..  Thanks Barry

On my E2212 I hooked a small spring to the diverter plate and pulled it back so that the
diverter was allways working

Spring are wonderful little tools. I use a lot of helper springs on the machines where I work. For right now I just put a small rag in the over flow to keep the quarters from going to the bottom. I'll tweak the divertor later... I just find it strange that they work that way on the E-Series. The Electro-Mechanicals divertors engage as soon as the machine is powered on.

I have a Aristocrat 540 MK4 and it does the same thing.
The diverted solenoid won't activate till after the fist game
and it's a video slot.

If you BLOCK the divertor you have to make sure you empty the hopper periodically - else the hopper will fill up and put a strain on the motor and the hopper control board will FRY.  I assume the computer logic is such that the divertor circuit is not checked/activated until a game cycle is sensed.  Output devices would all be at rest until logic checks them.

I understand how the hopper and the divertor work. I usually don't keep more then a 1000 quarters in a hopper. If i ever sell the machine I will make sure to hook the divertor up correctly. Thanks for you advice and concerns...
