I just picked up a few parts machines and im trying to get a mag 7 up and running. The problem is im not sure if I have the right game and reel erproms for it. I have SP731 game rom and 7701 reel eprom in it. Does anyone know if these are correct? There's a good chance they are not. If thats the case where can I get them? My email is pacman at md.metrocast.net

So far the machine seems to be booting and is ready to play but it wont register coin drops. I did a ram clear and set denom but no change (problem was there before and after). I have a known good comparitor in it and no DBV installed. I tried with BV turned on and off. Any ideas on this?

SS7701 is Triple Double Diamond and Triple Double.
With the door open try pushing the little white button on the coin optics on the door.
That is a credit buttton that only works with door open.

Update: I got the game working but obviously its the wrong eproms in it. Makes sense, I did get a triple double diamond in the lot so I guess this is the board for it. Now I just need to hunt down the correct eproms or images so I can burn them.
Not sure what was going on with the coin comparitor. I installed a dbv, ran the set chip again and it worked. Does a dbv have to be installed for it to work even if its turned off? Im short on comparitors and dbv so I need to find at least one of each. Any good source for these?

Cool, thanks. I have two machines left to get running. One is  going to need a motherboard, not sure if thats worth buying or not. Also looks like I need two DBV and two comparitors.

What are your DBV sympthoms ? you need a SET CHIP to activate the DBV.

Per the motherboard - do you mean the fixed board inside the machine (motherboard) or the removeable one (MPU board).

New to you MPUs go as for as low as 25 on Ebay. What makes you think its bad ?

Not bad....missing completely.
Yes, the MPU board. I just picked up three machines and only got one MPU board and none had DBV or comparitors. I pulled the comparitor and DBV from one of my other machines to get one of these working. So that machine only needs these two parts now. Out of the other two machines I only plan on fixing one of them and using the other for parts.
Basically I need two DBV, two comparitors, eproms for MAG 7,  and one motherboard to get these two fully functional and complete.
I also picked up two sitdown IGT slots but havent even unloaded them yet. Not sure if they are complete or not but I doubt they are. There is also an IGT sitdown poker in the lot. If it works great, if not its getting parted out. Its a big heavy beast of a machine. The two slant top slots are half the weight of the poker machine.

The weight of the poker is likely the monitor. Or you might have gotten lucky and they left the hopper full....... rotflmao

If the other slants have MPU boards they are interchangeable with the uprights. I think they might use a different tray but that is a matter of about 5 screws......if you have spare trays.

I just bought three working MPU boards with trays on ebay for $20 each. I also picked up a dbv and comparitor for very reasonable prices. Now I just need eproms for a couple of the machines and two comparitors. Im thinking I will just run a couple without dbv.
Is there any way to change the way it handles credits from the dbv? My machines I have in my collection take a bill and add credits to the machine. This new one and another one I already had just spits quarters out. Any way to change that or it in the eprom data?

Its one of the options that you set in via the self test button menu. What is the game chip you are running and someone can perhaps send you the PSR which tells you how to set your options.

In general, go to the page 0 setup group and turn the key until you get to option 8. Set it to "8  1" to force all bill credits to the meter. This applies to most SP chips, but YMMV.

I have an mpu that I got in this lot. It has "dbl dbl bon slt top" written on it. I have a double double diamond slant top and im wondering if it goes to this. Its a little different than other S+ mpu boards I have seen. It has six eproms on it. The right side looks normal with the two eproms and ram but there are 4 additional eproms on the left side.
Im guessing this is a poker mpu, can anyone confirm? Im still not sure what the "bon" of "dbl dbl bon" means. Unfortunatly it blows the 5 amp fuse when the board is plugged in so I cant verify if its even working.
