My machine currently pays out all hits with coin and the DBV pays out in coin instead of adding credits. What is the procedure to change this setting?

What SP game prom is installed in the socket location U57 (16MHz board) or the U52 location (10MHz board) ?
I can pull out the correct SP PSR sheet for your game!

Mark beat me to it.  Once you've figured out which SP chip you have, we can give you the best directions.

You can determine your SP chip by following the instructions found here.

If you do choose to pull the MPU board out instead to determine the SP chip information, make sure to TURN THE MACHINE OFF before removing or inserting the board.

Here's what I have in notes about the settings for my machine, but the directions do vary depending on the SP chip in there.

Make sure you have zero credits (cash out any credits that may be on the machine), then open the door and use the self test button to get to the page 0 options (the number zero appears in the Coins Played window -- it should be two presses of the button).  From there, turn the jackpot reset key (if necessary) to get to option 5 (the number 5 appears in the Winner Paid window).  Using the "Spin Reels" button, change option 5 to zero (the number "0" should appear in the credits window) -- if it's already set to zero, you're ready to move on to the next step...

Once you've done that, turn the jackpot reset key three times until the number "8" appears in the Winner Paid window.  We want to change that setting to "1" (credits window) to force all bills to go to the credit meter, rather than them possibly ending up coming out of the hopper as soon as you put the bill in.  Press the "Spin Reels" button until this option is set to "1" (credits window).

Press the self test button one more time to "lock in" your settings (I'm not sure if it's necessary, but it doesn't hurt!), and then close the door -- you're done!  All bills will go to the credit meter, and by default, all wins will go to the meter as well (unless (with zero credits) a player presses the cash-credit button before playing, inserts a coin or two, and wins).

I think its an SP1271 but I would have to double check that.
Thanks for the info, I will give it a shot in the next day or so and see if it works.

Knagl's directions are correct for the SP1271. You'll be pushing the white test button twice -- until you see 2 / 0 or 2 / 1 (should be set to 2 / 1) in the winner paid/credit windows. Turn the key once to get to option 5 and go from there.

Don't forget to clear all credits first or you won't be able to change the settings.

Shouldn't be a problem since he can't get his machine to hold credits right now.   propeller   Tongue Out  Tongue Out  Tongue Out

Its not working, changed setting 8 to a 1 and no go. I tried changing it to a 2 but still no good. I verified it is a sp1271 chip.

 Scratch Head

Option 8-2 would force all bills to cash out, which is what yon don't want. 8-1 should force all bills to credit, which is what you do want. 8-0 will do whatever is set in option 5.

Option 5-0 puts all wins to credit,^ and will also put bills to credit if option 8-0 is set.
5-1 defaults to cash mode (credit light off) after idle for 30 seconds with no credits. Player can turn credit on manually before inserting coins or bills.
5-2 defaults to credit mode (credit light on) after idle for 30 seconds with no credits.*  Player can turn credit off manually before inserting coins or bills.
If option 8-0 is set, both of these modes will cash bills if the credit light is off and will put bills to credits if the credit light is on.

^ With option 5-0 the credit light blinks when there are credits.

* That also means that the credit light will be OFF for the first 30 seconds after cashing out, just like option 5-1. OOPS. Tried it, and the light does stay on
after a cash out as the PSR states.  yes
With options 5-1 and 5-2 the credit light is on steady when active or when there are credits.

What are your hopper, credit, jackpot limiit, and dbv limit settings?

As an interesting side note, I have my hopper limit set to 0, so when I set the machine to option 5-2 and manually turned off credit mode, the dbv also turned off.
I could then turn the dbv on and off at will with the credit button!  Tongue Out

I got it figured out before you posted. Everything is working great now. I have 6 more machines to work the bugs out of and get set up now.

This machine has a toggle switch on the inside of the coin door that none of my other machines have. It appears to disable the dbv and comparitor. I found this out the hard way while trying to get the dbv working and then realized it wasnt accepting coins either. Anyone know the purpose of this switch?
