I have a friend who like me has a Bally 6000. I am pretty sure he needs to do a ram clear but he isn't inclined to do it himself. He wants to send me his MPU so that I can do the ram clear for him. Is there a downside to putting his board into my machine? They are the same boards just different games.

Thanks

Why do you think he needs a ram clear is he getting an error on the display ?
if so let us know the error # it could be as simple as holding the reset and closing the door to clear.

You can swap boards and do the clear but keep in mind you also have to
set the(his) game back up in the 11d menu for the game options whatever you choose those to be.
Then send the board back,Post back what his problem is(before shipping) and what game theme's we are talking
about here,it could also be non board related too.
Need more info.

82=Door Open With Power Off
The machine door was opened while
the main power was OFF (requires JW11 in)

I never saw this one before, has your friend tried holding the reset then closing the door ?
also can you ask him if the whole button deck is flashing.

Maybe another member that had the 82 error can chime in
I never had to clear that one.

Tim

Outsider just a side note why don't you have your friend
become a member here if he is going to have a slot this is the
best place on the net for home users.

you can set up a board on your machine but may need to perform a partial clear on their machine once installed.  The process is simple as can be seen in this video.
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/fJ-yRz4AnYc&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/fJ-yRz4AnYc&rel=0</a>
The chance of it marrying to their machine without a clear is about 50%.

Thanks,

Thanks for the info. Looks like he's better off getting his own clear chips
