Megatouch buying advice.

i have been looking to purchase a megatouch. i found a megtouch Evo with 2005 software, working BV, locks and keys for $750. but i have a coin op auction by my house in 3weeks in chicago area. i dont want to pass up a good deal and never been to the auctions around here. so anyone that could tell me price wise compare to auction.

most of my knowledge is playing these in a bar. If i do decide to buy, what red flags could i look for to know if its a "bad" machine?
What would you exports look for before buying?

If its got a BV I would ensure it accepts the newer currency.
Lots of the slots fall flat on the new colored 10's and 20's

so im assuming if  i put money in and play, that if everything is fine and the touch screen works all over its a "good" machine. is there maybe a test screen/menu to test the touchscreen area?

There's a calibration screen, but you'd need to have access to the inside of the machine to press the service button to access it -- I don't know if you'd have that kind of access at an auction inspection (I guess it depends on the auction).  There's a service button, and once you press that you navigate the on-screen menus for game and calibration setup.

Flat screen machines will weigh less and will be newer, and as such will demand a premium.

Basically, play with the machines -- make sure that the sound is good (the volume is adjustable, but you want to make sure it's working), and that the screen does not appear damaged, and that it touches where you are trying to touch.  Boxxi is a good game to play to get a feel for if it's sensing your touch in the correct spot on the screen.  Calibration can fix minor issues, but if you're touching the right corner and it's sensing the left middle, that could be trouble.

The newer the software the better, as the older machines can only be upgraded so far.  If you're looking for a machine that has a specific game that you like to play, make sure that the machine has that game before you bid on it.  Make sure the bill validator is working (should at least attempt to grab bills, if you don't want to risk donating $1 to the winning bidder!).

If it's going on your home bar, you're likely going to set it on freeplay and whether or not it takes newer bills will likely be a moot point.  Keep that in mind before you let the new bill acceptance be a make/break point.

As with any auction, set a maximum price in your head ahead of time and stick to it -- don't get caught up in the bidding.  Also, most auctions charge a "buyer's premium" on top of the price you bid.  I've seen those as high as 13%, meaning a $500 bid is actually a $565 bid.  Make sure to factor that in when deciding your maximum.

price is a bit high megas have fallen off big time  there was over 100 of them in winston /salem  nc auction on the 18th 2008.5 were selling at 200 i have a load i bought  and am having a hard time getting 350 retail for max,s , jades, ect

We have some in the metal cab and some in old type cab mostly max , jade , , I stay clear of forces  too many boards and tv,s   go bad also have 2 jvl blue cab ones neither work i,ll sell both for 250 plus shipping I think they both need boards repairs
