I have an IGT S2000 Haywire Deluxe....I used a clear chip 97 and used a key 17 to change some options on my machine. Before when I put in a coin the sound would be a "Coin in" sound.....now when I put in a coin I get a "Clink Sound". Does anyone know how I can change the sound back??  I could not find an option in the sound menu although when I go to the I/O test...there are several choices. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I was also asking about this.  My s2000 has a reel spin sound that plays in the multimedia test that I would love to be able to use, but I can't select it from the sound menus.  There are dipswitches on the SIMM, but it has been said that changing them will damage it.  I still think there's more to sound SIMM's than meets the eye...or ear.

To change back to your multimedia sounds you have to go into machine options, then sound options, then multimedia and change each setting to the (preferred) setting

I tried that but it did not seem to work....What specific sound/mutimedia option do I need to look for or change......there isn"t one for the coin?

There isn't an option for coin.. it is what it is. Unless there's some change when you reset the other options, I've personally never noticed.

Which brings me back to my curiosity.  Is it possible that a casino could request that their sound SIMM's be programmed with a certain *ding*, *chime*, *tune*, etc for a specific function?  On my sound SIMM, I have all sorts of sounds that are playable via I/O tests, but are not ever played in game play...so they ARE there.  If the dipswitches are used for programming, could this be a function?  I find it strange that John0813, had sound A for coin in prior to the clearchip procedure, and now has sound B for coin in after the clearchip procedure.  If coin in was a selectable option via the menus, then I agree with Brian's suggestion, but if it isn't, it seems like the sound was downloaded to the card via some procedure, and the reset put it back to default.

Just a guess.

That's just it...I don't know of a way to do it and am trying to understand how you had one sound and now have another using the same sound SIMM.  Maybe others will chime in.

As a programmer ......

We would have a library of of function calls.
For instance  "abs(-3) "
Abs is a function that converts a number into its absolute value of just plain 3

When I was am programming I would have perhaps 200 or more functions available in the library but in the program I just use the ones that i need.

I would suspect that the sounds you are able to play in test mode are basically a Sound Library and that what is actually played is up to the game software to call. So with respect to custom sounds for a particular casino I would suspect IGT/Bally etc would rewrite the game software to call different sounds or alternatively change the sound libary out all together.

So with regards to your question - the clear likely did not have any bearing on which sounds were played. However it is more likely that there might be a way to chooes a different sound themes for the game and that might be selected through a custom keychip.

It took me two or three attempts to successfully lower the volumes of the sounds that I wanted to lower (and not the others) when I was playing Buzz's No Times Pay. I didn't have a manual and was just poking around.

Precisely jay!  I work in R&D for a well known global IT company and see this type of thing every day.  The library is available and certain calls are made via code in firmware/software.  Anything can be manipulated.  The question now, is "Does such a custom keychip lurk about?"

In John's case, enabling and maxing out all of the multimedia/sound options per Bunker's guides may also change the sound he's used to.

I have a S2000, 10/04, D.D.Haywire. Mine has the enhanced sound option. It is three reels & each coin dropped  makes a different sound. Large payouts make different sounds than smaller ones. A red seven makes a different sound than a double diamond.
The reel spins in stereo & I believe the bottom speaker is bass?. This is in the enhanced mode. On my machine I can go into the menu & select, non- stereo, non enhanced reels, etc. It's very simple to do & doesn't  take a lot of time.
I don't remember if there  has to be ZERO CREDITS on the machine to make the changes.  The enhanced sound is really a nice feature.

Hope this helps someone?

Isn't the usable sounds on the Simm dependant on your Base chip? I think that is what calls for a certain sound for a particular action or result. I remember Johnny G had stated in a thread that there were numerous sound files on the Simms that were never used. So if that were the case, the base chip would have to be modified.

I have used these "Sound Options" pages but as you read them...I do not see where you can change the sound when the coin is put into the machine.

The options deal with volume but not the initial coin drop sound...I go back to my previous posting...Do I need to clear chip 97/key 17 again and if so...where do I find the sounds to select from....remember..I had the sound BEFORE  I cleared the ram/key 17?????  I had a coin drop in sound now i have a click sound...????    Any help is appreciated.

John just to verify, you have your machine set to enhanced sounds in all the multimedia settings?

Push the white test button, navigate to machine options then navigate to the multimedia setting, enter the menu, change all to the settings to the one that says (preferred) at the end?

Remember after you change all those settings you have to press max bet button till it exits all the menus back to normal game play to save the settings.

Brianzz...

Yes...That is what I did........however, now when I put in a coin...I get the "Click" sound where before I had a "Coin-In sound"? I do not know why the base sound changed after I cleared the machine.....Could the coin-in menu impact the type of sound?? If I change this option (Coin to Credit? for example..) will the basic sound change???

It's possible with the setting of excess coins to credits you will get a different sound. Instead of an incremental rising of the sound for each coin inserted you'll get the same tone for every coin. Also if you have your coin value set to something other than the credit value (pseudo tokenization) on the machine you'll only get the single tone for all coins inserted.
