Hi all,

I've got a Jackpot Party, was working, but now it only lights up and the dotmation works, but thats it. The LEDs for +12, -12 and the +5 are not lit. These would be the 3 middle LEDs, the 1st and 5th LEDs are lit.  I'm assuming the power supply should be replaced based on several posts saying these are a common failure. I did not actually check voltages coming out of the PS as I did not have any literature telling me what voltages were... I read the brilliant ATX replacement procedure from cfh. I can probably do it, but my soldering and crimping skills are not good. I would really prefer an exact plug and play replacement. Is there one available, if so where is the best place to buy it? And am I just being stupid to not put in an ATX despite my lack of enthusiam about doing it?

Thanks for your help!

You can send out your power supply for repair.
Check this web page.
http://www.adrianelectronics.com/

Adrian has done good repair work for me in the past and he has a flat rate of $35.00 for the power supplies.

Adrian just repaired a dotmation power supply for me. Three days turnaround and he sent an email to confirm I was happy with the repair. Definitely would recommend Adrian

Welcome to  nlg, vintageamusement!

The only problem with the repaired power supply is that it's going to die again down the road.  If you do the ATX mod, even if it dies (would take a lot longer than the stock WMS power supply) it would then be a plug-and-play replacement to throw another ATX supply in there.  Food for thought.

Neon  I did say "upper"   I posted this mainly because  cruisepl  said he had a upper PS repaired.  Now I ask you which is better, have a old one repaired or get a brand new one for 20 bucks.

Sorry guys a bit of confusion here.  I had a lower power supply repaired from one of my dotmation machines not a top box "dotmation power supply" .  I should have been a bit more clear in my post. Again sorry for the confusion

I agree Paul.
But for someone without soldering and or wire splicing ability, I was offering a suitable work around.
As the original poster suggested.

I understand the easiest fix for him would be to get the origonal power supply fixed and for that price is very reasonable I guess there are a lot of people who want everything origonal the way it was made also. If you saw the first power supply I changed out you would want to know what monkey did this

For those who haven't clicked on this link, it's a brand new OEM upper Wms dot power supply for $20. Buzz was suggesting that a brand new OEM for $20 is better than a rebuilt one.

Hi,

So I assume there is no brand new lower power supply that is a plug and play solution? Only the ATX units which require modifying the connections right?  Thanks again for all the replies, great group you have here with knowledgeable people.

Sure there is, factory WMS ones, we have a few left from old stock, yes cost is up there, Happ is getting over $150 we have some left for $95, there is no direct aftermarket plug in one for the lower game without altering the harness, but there are plenty that will do it if you want to besides the ATX supply and still fit in the same box so nowbody knows

This thread is over a year old, and the original poster was working on a WMS 40S5 Dotmation reel machine.  propeller
