Picking things and smelling your finger after...

So I'm walking down the hall at work today and I see a guy REALLY digging at something behind his ear.  I stop and watch because of his aggressive determination.  Anyway, he finishes, and then proceeds to smell his finger.  WTF?  I wondered why he would do that.  I decide to Google it, and it appears to be pretty common...like this guy.

true story about this subject in a dff sense--
my buddy Steve from Ma. who reads NLG who is into slots arcade games etc will call me after reading this  

he runs a body shop has for almost 30 yrs ---He painted one of my race cars back in late 80's early 90's
it came out perfect --gloss black etc trans am body of the late 70's etc . well I went to go see the car before i took it back to my shop .

a Robin had built a nest above the  tree the car was parked near . welll it had 3 spots of bird poop on the roof .. we all know bird poop
burns outlines in paint fast . even though this had 5 coats of clear on it --I said Steve what is this SH^^T  on my car --with new paint ??

he says oh man sorry----that was not there 15 minutes ago . HE licked his index finger and rubbed off the bird poop !! he then licked his same index  finger again and rubbed off the second spot .. by the time he got to the third spot --I said Steve ---if you lick your index finger one more time and rub off the third bird poop ??with the same finger you have used twice now ?? I am going to barf !! lol he looked at his finger and all the white poop on it!!!-----then did the classic taste test  wthout putting his fnger in his mouth  

he started to dry heave for a few minutes .. then yells at me for lettng him do it twce lolllll
I said did those baby Robins get fed tiny worms today ?? I was wonderng how many licks of the finger before you tasted what you rubbed off
