Hey guys,

Here's one I was thinking about last night.

I have a RW&B Big Times 3 reel + bonus reel machine.  If I ever wanted to play a std 3 reel game in my machine, is this possible?  Here's my thinking regarding a kit and easiest path...

My game has different reel glass and VFD layout compared to a 3 reel because of the bonus reel.  If I was to keep the reel glass, VFD, and bonus reel as is, could I still do a conversion, and would it work?

My line of thinking is to replace the following (Use a Double Diamond Deluxe as an example):
-DDD base chip, game chips, and sound chip
-DDD reel strips
-Belly and top glass (not critical)

If I did that and left my RWB reel shelf, bonus reel, and VFD alone, would the 4th bonus reel just be inactive with DDD chips installed, and would the VFD display the data from the DDD chips properly?

If this can be done, I'm all over buying and trying different games.  Your feedback is appreciated.

Jason

I think you would need to change the reel harness and probably leave everything else alone. You could even change the reel glass, pull the bonus reel, everything else is the same. The only difference between a 3 reel shelf and a 3 reel + BR shelf is the mounting bracket for the 4th reel.

Is there a photo of where this jumper is located?

I think it's the jumper that goes to I/O box on the side of mother board.

Just finished the conversion on my machine.  Didn't pull any kind of a jumper.  Just disconnected the harness plugs from the motherboard and backlight controller board and replaced it with the three reel harness.  Works great!  By not pulling this jumper, am I damaging anything?  I'm not even sure what this looks like.  Any advice would be appreciated and if I should pull it off, could you give me a description and/or part number to look for?

Thanks,
Jason

So the part number in my machine is 608-687-0 and is a 2 plug job with a green wire?  Do I still pull it, or since everything is working should I leave well enough alone?

Powered it off.  Pulled the plug.  Powered up.  No difference.  Plays fine.  I'll be curious to see if idesign has any comments.
