I was down there last Easter - Stopped in at Harrahs Buffet about 7.00pm - worst food I have eaten in 20years (Harrahs in Vegas is consistantly good).

May I suggest Olive Garden on the other side of the river in Bull Head City.

Jason  I just got back from Laughlin/bullhead yesterday. In my opinion if Joey moved away from Bullhead I would never go back to Laughlin again. You will find 8 or 9 Casinos each one of them their claim to fame is each has a swimming pool. BFD  If you've been in one casino you've been in them all.

I have been to the buffet at the Tropicana, I thought it was pretty damn good, ( what made it outstanding was Capt. Happy picked up the check)   Clap Clap Clap Yesterday I ask Dottie ( Joey's mother in law) about the different buffet's, she said the Aquarius was the best one. This last trip I ate at the Edgewater buffet, it didn't make me sick. ( The sign on the Prim rib said roast beef )  I do recomend you go to In-n-out Burger ( Northside of the Tropican parking lot) I must warn you, if your not in the mood for a hamburger, go someplace else, all they have on the menu is hamburgers.

Don Laughlins Riverside has an antique slot machine store. In there they sell newer (1990's) video pokers, S2000's, etc. Always fun to checkout what they have.
The Aquarius has a lot of newer machines to play including the AVP GameKings. Nice!
Edgewater & Colorado Belle are very average.
The Pioneer is old school. IGT S+'s that take and give coin and quite a bit of video poker.
Golden Nugget has a nice assortment of machines. (I won $1200+ there on a Bally's five reeler! ) yes
The River Palms is average too, but a small step up from Edgewater/Belle.
Harrah's video poker pay tables had me heading for the exits.

The Tropicana has a nice assortment of machines too.

Have Fun!

Warning: Do not exceed the speed limit of 65mph on the 95. And Searchlight appears to be a speedtrap too!

We love going to Laughlin. And we usually stay at the Tropicana as well. (We get free rooms too  applause )
It's close to home, NLG is on the way when we go through Bullhead. I like the fact that we can walk to almost all of the casinos.
We don't gamble much, So I spend most of the time dragging my wife around to look at all the machines & topers that
I am going to get someday. She is really a good sport about it, Ok honey, Thats a nice one, So is that one, ETC ETC...  Now, let's go to dinner  Tongue Out

Here are a couple of pics of the view from the Tropicana!

There's In N Out burgers in the middle of pic 2859 !

Chances are good that you'll be the youngest person in the city of Laughlin.  That is, assuming you're under the age of 85.

I assume you're planning a stop in at the NLG World Headquarters?

Jason,

I added one word to Uniman's opinion of the Edgewater/Belle, arrow although I found some very good 25¢ Triple Double Bonus VP paytables at the Edgewater last year. The Edgewater is slightly better than the Belle, IMO.

Don't forget to check out the antique auto museum at the Riverside. propeller As has been mentioned, they also have the antique slot store, but from what I've seen, they are not only extremely overpriced, they are extremely overpriced reproductions. It's a nice place to browse, but keep your wallet in your pocket.

If you're a good blackjack player, the Golden Nugget has one single-deck table with decent rules*  that is often uncrowded mid-week (meaning that you can actually get more than two hands per shuffle.) The table is usually set as their "high limit" table  -- which for Laughlin is a joke -- with a minimum bet of a whopping $10. frying pan

* Pays 3:2; dbl down on any two cards; dealer hits soft 17; no dbl after split (obviously on single deck); no surrender; penetration is usually good with one to three players.

If you really want to be daring, you could double down on a soft 19, or split 10s against a dealer's 6.  Both plays are correct at certain times, but the first will get you some scrutiny by the dealer and pit boss, and the second will likely get you killed by the other players.

Of course, splitting those 10's at the right time can be a great way to convince everyone you're a fool while actually making a good play, and doing it at the wrong time is the fastest way to prove them correct. knockout

Back on track for Jason! (BTW Let me know when you know when you are going to go)

Plus I have wanted to share this for everyone since back in July......

I really suggest going to the cafe/coffee shop/restaurant/whatever they call it in Don Laughlin's Riverside Hotel Casino. My Mom and I tried it a couple (or few?) times on the last trip for the NLG 4th of July Celebration and then some. We never had a bad meal, and the prices were very very reasonable the the food was pretty good based on what we got, and from looking at what other people got.

The first visit I got a French Dip, and my Mom got the Ham Steak Special. She was shocked when it arrived as we had NEVER seen such a huge Ham Steak served at a restaurant before, it was probably easily more than a pound, and tasty! yummy yummy yummy

I had eyed a Hamburger on the menu, and decided to save it for another visit. I attached the menu description to this post, and you will get to see it on the next couple posts!!!
