It could be that the glass is for an S+ with 2 levels, and there is different glass for the S2000 platform.

I have given up on having a 2 level progressive on the S2000, I will just let the Spectrum handle the Top Award
I have removed the Cham II+ (SA) for now.

Now to find the changing color switch. I doubt it works on the SDF104 though.

Cham II+ SA 2.07

I gave up for now, working on 2 projects that will benefit NLG members.
A windows version of software for Cham II+ (I can only develop for the Cham II+ since that is all I have)
The other one is a surprise (All S+ And S2000/Vison owners will like it)

I even tried swapping the roles (spectrum Top or level 1, Cham II+ level 2) machine thought the Cham II+ was no longer connected.
I got a topper with a Spectrum so Cham II+ controller was moved to the S+ (replaced the Cham II+ in the S+ due to it rebooting all the time)
I think the original Cham II+ in the S+ may have a issue getting too hot. cold solder joint, etc.

wait wait wait... your post...

It a IGT i960 Spectrum (S2000, I game, etc) I tried various config's of the S2000
I even tried having the Spectrum handle the Level one (top award) and let the cham II+ do the second level progressive.
The S2000 did not like that all. Link Progressive down.

I have temporarily disconnected the Spectrum until I can get some idea on what to try next

I have a Triple Five Times Pay Base chip

Game SG000363
Base SB100168
VFD VFD00007
Version VS011GX1
Sound DSV00042

I am beginning to think that my game chip is not sendign the right data to the spectrum.

this may be the problem... Isn't SG000363 is a "generic chip" for running S+ games on the s2000 platform... Its the same as SG000312 or SG000362 just an updated chip...??
Are your chips interchanged???...  STEPPERBASE 100168 is a "true S2000" platform game (notice the leading 1).. it may work with the SG000363 but that is the wrong "ture" steppergame chip for S2000 platform.. steppergame000363 may support 2 level SS games if running stepperbase0001000 and a SS chip in U17.. then would work with 2 level progressive.. My s2000 is running sg00369 Sb100273
This topic was from a while back I see and if you can give me an update I may be able to help you...........

If this isnt the problem.. I hooked up my spectrum a little over 1 1/2 years ago, and I tried to hook up my chamII+ to my vision machine.. My chamII+ is using STA (standalone) 2.07 and Im almost certain that even though it is a "link" progressive it still had to be set up in the progressive setup on the machine as a standalone..I dont remember too much because its been from a long time ago... Have you tried to set up both of them as standalone level 1 and standalone level 2.. My chamII+ would not communicate with my vision because I needed STA version 3.0 or something like that in which I tried to buy from Mikohn for 60.00 but they would not sell to me when they found out that I lived in ohio because they have no jurisdiction here..  Send me an update and Ill try to remember what I was doing.. Its been so long ago Ill have to think really hard.. lol

I went back to the SB001000 chip and SS chip config for now.
I only have 1 true S2000 type game, wrong glass but figured I would get it since it was a theme I like, and can get the proper top box at some point.
Currently Triple Red White & Blue with SS7542 chip but using Red White & Blue Wild strips due to the strips being back lit capable.
I did put a standard strip in one reel and it can be used, the back lit just shows up dimmer and bleeds into the white space on the strip.

When I get the surprise project done, I may try the finding out why the S+ cham II+ had to be replaced, and see if I can try setting up the S2000 with both progressives again.
I have gotten used to the Top Dollar topper on it though.

If it aint broke why mess with it?????

« Reply #33 on: March 23, 2009, 09:48:10 AM »

I recently tried hooking up 2 spectrum meters in stand alone to a S2000.  The game was Double Diamond which supports 2 levels of progressive.  I set the machine up correctly but both meters indicated the 1st level progressive values.  After fiddling with it for a few hours I gave up.  I had both meters hooked up to the netlex distribution board on the back wall of the top box.  I thought that maybe each meter had to have a separate ID address and that the dip switches on the controller board could be the solution.  No help there as far as I can tell. Maybe there is an interface required if 2 spectrum meters are connected.  Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Jeff, Foster said he got his chamII+ connected to his s2000 with STA 2.07... I was told by Mikohn that in order to connect it to the vision I needed a later version standalone software.. If I can verify and created a new harness for the CHAMII+ i will play around with it and the spectrum... I dont remember the pinout for the CHAMII+ or for the controller pin layout for the s2000.. do you remember??

Here is a copy of the connections from the CHAMII+ manual.  It's for a vision but will be the same for a S2000.

Yes, let us know how you make out.  I will try to test that out myself too.
