My Game King 19" with Ceronix tube monitor is giving me a "Hardware Touch Screen Error. "
Anybody know if this an actual  touch screen error or is it the touch screen controller.

Thanks,
Eric

I'm only guessing, Eric, but I don't think the machine would know if there was a problem with the screen -- I'd start with the controller.  Do you have a known good one you can swap in to see if that eliminates the issue?

Hi Kevin. That's what I figured. I have an extra.  I just have to find it now.  It seems to be an intermittent problem as it suddenly went away.
Thanks,
Eric

Hello Eric

In your program version information screen you can see the sw listed for all peripherals. If it comes up there it means its talking to the controller and the problem is with the actual TS.

Thanks Ian. I'll Check it out tomorrow.  If it is the touch screen then I have a few new ones laying around.
Not much time to install it, but at least I have it.

Eric   I had this problem on two 19" Game Kings and it turned out to be exactly the same trace burned on the mother board. They were both a easy fix to solder a jumper wire and bypass the bad trace.

Thanks for the info Buzz. I upgraded my early 99 GameKing from an 038 board model up to an 044 board and so the back plane was changed.
The monitor and touch screen controller wasn't changed though. The problem seems to be intermittent.
Just as suddenly as it appeared, it just as suddenly went away.  I changed games about 4 times without it doing it again.
I guess  I am going to have to wait for it to happen again and then go from there.
Thanks,
Eric

Occasionally a problem with other netplex devices can cause this to, I've had bad printers & BV's cause touchscreen errors also.
