I have an IGT S2000 Double Diamond Run Vision Machine. The machine was working okay except for the fact that it took a long time for the LCD screen to initialize. Yesterday, I took money out of the cash box and closed everything. An error message appeared that indicated Reel 2 tilt....Closure M....the machine has not worked correctly since that time. The 5 reels will spin okay at start up and then it goes wacky...sometimes the LCD screen will go on for a few seconds and turn off, sometimes the game will start correctly and in 2 to 3 seconds start the tilt spin on one or more reels.

I replaced the optic sensors, I swapped several of the reels, I turned the reset set key, I looked at the board and the 3.6 volt battery had some corrosion around it...I made sure there were no loose wires on the reel....I read many of the posts on this web site....Help..What did I miss in the troubleshooting process....Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks...

Well, I've been informed by powers higher (and more knowledgable! Lol!) than me, that the 3.6 v battery on the board doesn't effect the game at all! Who knew!?!?!    Scratch Head 3

Apparently, that battery stores some sort of casino security info and does not have anything to do with your game play. Sorry to mislead you... Silly Me! Silly Me!

We need someone to chime in here...CALLING ALL S2000 GURUS: We need some guidance here please!!

Let me clear this up for you

If the MPU is an Enhanced MPU you must replace the battery if the battery is not holding a charge.
The Enhanced MPU will have S2000 Enhanced and a Part number ending with 1270

If it is not a Enhanced MPU then you can remove the battery, but I say install a jumper between the two negative solder pads.

Also if you had corrosion near the battery make sure you do not have any damaged traces under that area.
Clean up that area very carefully.

How can I tell if it an enhanced MPU. Where are the numbers located?

Some numbers that I found are:

59734700, rev:A, 9/02

model 1952-0

code 100973
assembly number 7551050
402210023465

I found this photo of a MPU Board that looks my mine....my battery has or does not have a charge.

Thanks

The pictured MPU is not an enhance model. Take the green battery off the board and make sure no problems exist due to acid. The description of your problems being with the S2000 portion of the game and the top box lcd would lead me to suspect power supply problems. In the vision machines the power supply is the common link between the bottom and top box other than communications. Hope this helps.

The board reads super stepper controller.

I went back into the machine and made sure that all connections coming out of the power supply were properly connected...still..when I now turn the machine on...it still reads Reel 2 tilt but the reels have stopped continuing rolling.

Any other ways of troubleshooting the power supply..??..What about the menus in the machine?

Thanks

Not sure why...But I got a reel 2 tilt error on a 3 reel plus bonus reel machine when the wire came off of the switch located on the inside of the cash can door. Put it back on and the tilt went away. Worth looking at and you did say it started after taking cash out.

I am checking for loose or disconnected wires/connections...I have found nothing...

The machine has been on for about an hour..when I closed the door...it reset itself..I inserted several bills..played one game...it blinked and went back to the Reel 2 tilt mode....closed the door again...indicated insert coin..all buttons and lcd blinked...went back to Reel2 tilit mode?????

Any other ideas are appreciated....family is here for the holiday...and they do not like my "Out of Service" sign..HELP!!!!!

No way to check power supply. You may want to check that all reels are seated good. With power off take each reel out and re-seat. If that doesn't work swap reels 2 and 3 around with power off and see if the error moves to reel 3 tilt. Be sure and put reel 2 and 3 back in thier original positions. If you have a clear chip you may try clearing memory. However, this will require a key17 chip to re-program the machine. Thanks.

I did the reel swap....same error message....as I stated in an earilier post..after a warm-up period...the machine's buttons tray lights blink on and off...the lcd blinks on and off...sometimes I can place one game and it then blinks and goes back into the "Reel2 tlt Mode" ...strange. Could the 3.6 volt battery be part of the problem? or is it best to do a memory clear and strat over again....

Thanks

When you get the reel tilt message does it alternate with a door open message? I had a similar problem last year and it would sometimes come up with the door message also. Turned out it was an alignment problem with the door optics and I ended up doing the bypass mod on those. No problems since then as far as reel tilts. If your machine still has the belly door microswitch you might try pulling the wires off that and tying them together first as you may have a faulty switch there. Same goes for the cash box door switch. Neither of these is anything but a potential pain in the butt on a home use machine anyway.

See my previous posts...I do get Closure M...but I would expect that...I replaced both the optics... I swapped reels...Is there any way of testing the optics to see if they are misaligned...when I slowly move the door latch up and down the machine goes into various play modes and tries to restart..then the error appears...any thoughts on the blinking of the button tray or LCD screen...??

When I had the problem my optics worked fine, I just couldn't get them to align well enough to hold contact. Any movement of the cabinet or table it sat on could flex the machine and break the contact for a split second causing a reel tilt error. I'd already bypassed the cash box and belly door switches so they were a non-issue in my case. Your flashing displays could be attributed to a door IO card that's faulty or not seated properly. What you did before the problem started, taking cash out of the cash box, is why I'm suggesting the things listed. By the way, my Double Diamond Run vision used to take almost 5 minutes to initialize. I figured it was the nature of the platform.

Obviously there are many things that could be causing this problem. On the MPU version you have one of the traces on the board that carries the door optics signal runs underneath the green battery and you stated that battery had some corrosion. How bad was the corrosion? Did you manage to get it cleaned? And was there any visually obvious damage to the board underneath the battery? It's battery acid, it plays hell with copper. Any chance you have a spare board you can swap out with the origional?

The corrosion was not bad...I will pull the board ..remove the battery.. clean the board with baking soda and re-post.

By any chance, is there a loose screw on the reel glass display panel?
I've noticed that sometimes the plastic reel glass displays have slightly weak plastic molded attachments
where the screws go through to secure it to the door frame.
If the screws are a bit loose, the display tilts backwards slightly
and sometimes a reel basket rubs against it?
That could cause a constant reel tilt as I've had that problem with one of my reel glass displays units.
Just something to check anyways.  propeller

On the same note, check the wires for the flourescent light in the door above the reel glass. They are tied to the metal bracket at the factory with small zip ties. Quite often these plastic zip ties get brittle from heat and age and break off leaving the wires hanging down a little. Sometimes they even rub against the reels, especially the middle reel causing errors... Maybe it can be something this easy??? Scratch Head Scratch Head Scratch Head

Just double checked the wires/plastic wire holders...nothing is touching the reels..when I started the machine this morning...all 5 reels started to spin and then the error message again???

Tonight, I removed the battery...very little corrosion...unfortunately the reels are still spinning and I am getting the same error mesages.......

Spent the afternoon swapping the reels, checking the connections, and opening and closing the door....nothing seems to be working or changing the error messages..sometimes two reels spin...sometimes three...reel 2 hestitates and then reels 2 ,4, and 5 spin..the lcd screen will light with the video for 2 to 3 seconds and turn off.. the sound quickly comes on and off.....I have another MPU...I plan on changing it out ...Are there any settings in the menu which can help me trouble shoot the problem? or any other ideas....???

Thanks

Did you or someone you know remove the green battery from the MPU?

IF you did jumper the 2 negative solder pads together where the battery was.
Do nothing to the positive since it is only one solder pad

Yes...based on a previous post, I removed the green battery..the machine still acted the same ...with or without it...

What are your thoughts about connecting the 2 negative pads??

I know there are traces going to each but they are not connected unless the battery or jumper is installed.
I had removed the battery on a 502 board and I would random reel tilts until I put a jumper in place.
Some say it is not needed but I say it 5 minutes of your time and may solve the issue.
