Just for the notes, on the dotmation, when you get a checksum error:
PROM0 = xu10
PROM1 = xu3
PROM2 = xu4

EPROM speed on the xu3 and xu4 seem to be an issue.
I have burned ROMs with good checksums, but the
game complains "PROM1 chksum error" type thing.
reburn on a different EPROM and the problem goes away.
seems like 100ns or faster is needed for the dotmation.
Not nearly an issue for the CPU board EPROMs.

You'll also get checksum errors if you use different size EPROMs and don't change the jumpers.  Some games require different sized dot EPROMs and jumper changes to go with them.   propeller

Thanks knagl .  I thought about that when the error came up ,but for some reason I did not think that was it  Duh! . I did a search for "Prom1 error" and seen what Clay said and figured I needed to  burn another chip. After reading your comment,I checked the chips....Sure enough u3 on the one I took out was a 4 and the one I installed was a 8  loser . Anyway,I just installed a differnt game all together (at least I learned the juristiction RN3 jumpers today  yes ) Off to pool league,so I'll try the game again when I get home.

On the dotmation display board, EPROM speed (or lack or it)
can often cause a checksum error. reburning the chip usually
fixes the problem (assuming the 4/8meg jumper is set correctly.)

I'm having the same problem, I couldn't find any documentation on the jumper positions for 1 vs. 4meg chips.... they are 3 prong jumpers so you can connect center to top or center to bottom or completely off... anyone know which way is which?

Also there are two jumpers next to the OS chip on the dotmation controller... where should those be? My OS boots up just fine... just getting checksum on XU3..

...without being near my machine, I'd try moving the jumper for the XU3 (in the Dot box) to the "other" position and try booting it.

I have the newest OS version running in the top box and when testing a known set of good game display chips the jumper postion does not matter. The known chips at 4001's for Big Bang. I'll have to get a new set of game chips for the game I'm trying to install.

Remember top game chips MUST match the game chips on the MPU.
For trouble shooting purposes you can not change just the top dot box chips with another set of game chips in the MPU.
