Hi All,
I have a IGT "S" Three Reel slot from around early/mid 1980's that is malfunctioning. Coins are just returned to hopper when inserted, and the message coming up is "Tilt Call Attendant" Can anyone please advise what is wrong and how to correct?
Thank You Very Much!!

Could you post a picture of the machine in the error?

It does not appear to be on in this picture. I would like to know what shows on the small displays when the machine is in the error.

I just really want to know what the display says. The ones that normally display the credits and wins. But I probably will not be much help as I don't know anything about the "M" machines.

While the message is displayed, turn the jackpot reset key and read the message again, it should change to the cause.

Thanks so much - I have the manual and will try to resolve, that was very much appreciated!
I truly appreciate everyone else's attempt to help me. Especially for a guy like me who flunked shop in High School and has trouble beyond identifying a hammer and a screwdriver. .
Thanks again everyone!!

If you check page 4-2 of the manual you will see a diagram of the cam shaft.  This cam shaft spins over on start up to reset the kickers.  On 4-5 you will see a cam follower.  These all rot and fall apart.  If yours has the machine won't reset the kicker and can not fire to spin the reels.  These followers are no longer available but there are options.  Many guys buy a set of bally hopper bearings to replace them.  That is what I did on my M+.  On my M model I just turned some new plastic rollers on my lathe. So basically any roller of the right size will work. Do you hear anything at start up?  I am wondering if the cam is ever turning.  If the rollers are ok and the kickers are resetting and firing the reels it is possible that they are not  firing hard enough.  In this case clean and lightly lube the the kickers.  You may also need to remove the reel shaft and lightly lube the bearings if the reels are moving slow.  If you can determine the error message it will help point you in the right direction.

Thanks so much for that detailed explanation and the pic - nice machine! I'll get on this today; I agree that I need to first see the message that displays after turning the reset button. I greatly appreciate your info!

while waiting for a key you can short the wires on the reset switch to get the codes.

I just got an m machine. It has the call attendant tilt message on it. I reset it and it goes away for awhile.  I'm also missing the led display. It came on for awhile and then went away. I'm also looking for a manual.

Thanks for any assistance.

I think I have the possibility of getting more of the m series that don't work. Would this be a good idea for spare parts?

NLG Welcome  I emailed you a manual to the address in your profile.  These machines frequently have problems with the rollers on the reel kickers deteriorating that will cause reel tilts.  Read through the M-slot section and you'll see quite a bit of information about them.  If you can get another M-slot for the right price it might be worth it to pick one up for parts.  You don't see a lot of parts for these older machines around too much anymore.

The manual looks great.  Do you known if  keys ar standard across all slots. Still haven't  got a key. They are trying to find them. They do have a key in a similar m slot.
