Thanks to Joey at NLG, I now have a working slots.
The machine was given to me broken, previous owner stated it powered up, but did not initialize.
The PDU was sent away and replaced the bottom board, PDU was reinstalled with same problem.
Symptoms:. Powered up, no LED's in players window. All power LED's on I/O card on, DS1 error light off.
No readout on CPU 7 segment led display.

Joey said to replace C5 (I think, 47ufd cap on lower PS board) with a higher voltage, same ufd.

PRESTO!!!!  Machine up and running perfectly.

Obviously, there are still bad power boards out there.

Thanks JOEY!!!!

The 400/401/40S5 series power supplies are usually bulletproof. The * PRIMARY* failure is filter caps. You can tell when it's going to fail, the lamps will have a telltale "Flicker" especially when the supply is cold.
Unless its a "fire job" replacing the electrolytic caps will bring htem back to life.
When you pull one of these, SHOTGUN the caps! if your in there replacing one, do them all...they are inexpensive. Your time is more costly...
If you DO need a topbox power supply for a Dotmation you will find them at www.mpja.com  look up the 12 volt single 9 amp supply.
Look at the picture and then the numbers on your failed unit. You will find it's an **** EXACT **** replacement! Cost? $19.95

I have found a much better replacement supply for the Dotmation power supply.  It is 12volt 15 amps and has a built in fan.  This is more amperage than you need, but the machine will only use what it needs.  The Williams dotmation power supplies don't have enough juice and suffer from excessive heat which makes them blow.  The only downside to my power supply is that it is an inch to big to fit in the dotmation screen's metal  box.   The pluses are that my power supply replacements are very stable and hook into the existing wiring with the addition of a few spade connectors.  I sell them for $35ea plus shipping.
