Hi,
I have a Bally 5500 Fireball slot with the DBV 145 bill validator in it. The machine plays great but the will not accept bills. This slot is new to me so I don't know when it has stopped working?
When it is on and ready to play the bill acceptor's green light is on and it will feed into the acceptor but spits them out. The dip switch on the bottom of the acceptor head are all off except the last one in the first switch bank and the two are on, on the other switch bank.
Any Ideas?

Thanks again for all your help.............

I found a great site for Dip Switch settings on most acceptors http://www.myslotnotes.com/DBA%20DIP%20SWITCH%20SETTINGS.htm  My acceptor is set correct and still doesn't accept bills.

No I have not done the calibration. Could you explain how to? This is on a Bally 5500 with a DBV 145.
Thanks,

Scott,
Check out this was a great thread on DBV-145's.>>>

http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=4677.0

JCM stopped putting up information on the 145's some time back
and the calibration procedures were very complicated I understand.
Plus the bloody things were never updated so nearly everyone
I know went to the 200 head's and got the stronger power supply
with the vents to power it up.
I seriously think you should take this route because there's a
lot more documentation available for the 200 heads!
I'd place an ad for in the NLG "Classifieds" section and I'm sure
one of our esteemed will be glad to help you out!

Thanks, I'll check it out. I do have a 200 head and I think I found a power supply for it. I'll get back if it works.

Hi, this may sound stupid but I cant find the power supply for the 145 to replace with the new supply. It appears that the wiring harness from the BV goes to the back board on this Bally 5500. Am I looking in the wrong place? I am looking inside the slot machine............ I'll look more............ Will the new power supply for the 200 need adaptors?

NO! You're right!
I looked at mine...
The DBV on a Bally5500 gets its power from the machines' main power supply box!
Thanks for making me go check on that!
When you place your ad in the Classifieds section...
make sure you say that your wanting a 200 DBV head w/harness for the Bally5500 machine!

I have a 200 head but will it work without the new power supply? Or can I just plug it in with the existing wires? Could I try or not?

I'd read some threads on the DBV-145 forum area first!
your DBV software has to match a Bally5500...
Some are made for IGT's, Aristocrats, Williams,etc.etc.

Sounds good as this 200 head is off a IGT transport.

its not really that bad to calibrate the 145 we nolonger use the 145 how every we still use the DBV-147 in our old IGT mutiGames same calibration some what except you need to use the jcm test box to flip the switch to see the other wave forms. i would put a DBV 200 in place of the 145 much easier to repair and it has the auto calibration no more pain in the a$! pots to turn. just a few dipswitches.

So I can just exchange the 145 with a 200 head on my Bally 5500 without a new power supply and using the same harness?
Thanks,

Yes, as long as the head is a DBV 200 SH, protocol 044/045

You need a special paper to calibrate the dbv200. The calibration sheet is half black and half white. One side is plain paper and the other is special (I believe that the black is special, but I suffer from CRS). You should be able to buy some from one of our vendors.
