70 is faster than 120.

1 nanosecond is faster than 2 nanoseconds.

The SST27SF512's I have are rewritable...awesome!
But, are they fast enough?
They're at 70ns (nano seconds)
Ohio says I need 120ns...which is "faster"?
Will my 70ns chips work?

I have some 45ns if you need one Bunker

So, than smaller the "ns" -  the faster they are...?
Thank you for the offer coorslight! applause
But I think I'm alright with the ones I have at 70ns. Scratch Head 2

The number is the access time or read time it takes to read the info from the chip.

I guess to finalize this topic...what is the best choice of SB needed to compliment the DD SS chip?
Or is the SB000100 the "only" choice?
And, would a ST M27C801 at 100ns be the appropriate device (eprom) for the SB?

SB1000 is the only base chip that'll play S+ games for some odd reason, you'd think they all would

SB001000 is the only option I've ever heard of.

27C801 is 1Mx8, the S2000 docs specify U21 (the base chip) as 256kx16, like a 27C4096. 27C801 is 32 pins, the 27C4096 has 40 pins. You might have an issue using the 27C801 for the Stepper Base chip.

Bill is correct that you would use a 27C4096 or 27C4002 for the (SB) base chip. It is a 40 PIN chip, and it is also a 16 BIT chip, so a lot of programmers need an adapter to program it.

Also the SB001000 is the only Base chip that will allow you to run S+ SS chips.

Hmm,
What goes into the U19 (GME1) & U46 (GME2) sockets?
Leave them empty?
Does it matter what goes in the U44 socket where the VX chip+ usually is?
The drawing in reply # 20 - says I should occupy the U17 socket with the SS chip! banghead Scratch Head no muted

You'd think it goes in the U19 (GME1) socket alongside the U46 (GME2) socket? Scratch Head 2

Mark, the ram, game and version eproms stay .. no changes to them. Just change your SB to the 001000 and add your SS to U17.

If I didn't make myself clear this is what I am trying to say.

The only eproms you need to remove is your SB and change it to the SB001000 and then add your SS to play your S+ games. No other eproms need to be removed or changed.

Whatever game (GME1 and GME2) are in there now stays, along with the version and the two rams.

Okay,
Good Morning all!
I love the sound the DSV00042 gives out in the "enhanced" setting
for the Double Diamond Haywire!
This game is great!
I liked the 2CM but the 3CM is even better!

I didn't even have to use the KeyChip 17 to change denomination settings either.
All I did was switch the SG00155 GME1 & 2 to SG00363's!
It works with the SG000155's but I will only get the older style display.
When I put in the SG000363's, I get the "modern" looking split VFD displays showing!!!

Anyways, changing the SBxxxxx chip from like a Tabasco SBxxxxx to an SB001000 makes
the S2000 MPU puts out a "statement" saying in the VFD display that it doesn't recognize the denom.
So I go into the denom settings and the MPU allows me to set the denom to whatever I want.
I have never seen so many chips on the board -
You video poker guys must have a blast! LOL
Now I wanna really  tinker with this puppy... stir the pot / get cooking
