Maybe somebody can help me out here as I have read other posts but know one gives you a clear answer after they figure out the problem nothing gets posted about the solution. no
Here it goes:
I have a cham II+ Standalone and I have it hooked to the motherboard at the progressive hook up. This unit came out of an s-2000 originally. I put the s2000 in progressive link 1 and am getting a progressive link down message and the mikohn is reading C1. Is there some way I have to make sure the mikohn is in standalone? I went in PSP and changed JP programming F8 to ms08 but I did not have it hooked to the machine. Does it have to be hooked to the machine while programming psp or can it be removed? Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Tommy

Tommy,
First off you need to give us more info on what game chip and SB  chip you are working with
to make sure it even supports progressive, you can program the display outside the machine in psp
also it's not just setting it to ms08 in psp, the machine needs to be key chipped in which there are more settings in the S2000 progressive menu
In which you should  set to progressive type (None) if not you will get the link down error.
but as I said more info is needed here, There are many threads here explaining setup in a S2000
with the solution you are looking for but we all know what a hair puller setting these up for the first time are.

Everything I read said progressive needs to be link1 on the S2000 Scratch Head
Stepper game is 363 or 363 I will have to check when I get home which one. And base is triple diamond 9 line I will check which number.

And yes I did key chip it but on everyone Else's post I read that it is set to progressive link1. Then I get the link down and zero communication.

Ok on the 363 and triple diamond
progressive link 1 are you referring to the key chip menu 7.3.1 that should be link level 1
7.3.2 should be set to None

Is the cham2 set for standalone SA

Upon starting the display up it will go through its process of settings if your fast enough to read it that is
but on the cham2 board itself you will see a flip type switch with 2 pad type buttons
flip the switch to go into the 3 different menus and use the buttons to select
you really should have the manual for this but under display it should be set for SA.

I do have the manual and I went through those menus twice or more but didn't see that. I did see a selection for con2 or caslink (casinolink). But I didn't notice the stand alone. Yes I am positive this is a stand alone board. It says on the board and other places. I bought it from Jim @ blueridge. He knows what he sent as well.

Yeah Jim knows his stuff that's for sure
I'm assuming you have the correct cable from cham J7 to to the J15 hookup on the S2000 correct
You should read the Mikohn manual  so you can navigate the menu settings you want it to read
under Menu=DISP
#displays=1
JP GRP 1=SA

How do you know if a game works with progressive or not?

Most games support at least one level of progressive. You can check the PAR sheet to be sure. Any win that supports a progressive setup will have a "P" to right of the number of coins paid for that win.

Paytable and Reel Sheet, which describes the layout of the virtual stops (and physical stops for stepper slots), the number of hits for each payout in the pay table and how much they pay out, the game's volatility, and any other info that the designers need to relate about the game, which may include details of bonus rounds or other special features.

<ADD> In the case of the S2000, Stepper Base chips have several paytables contained on a single chip, and there is a separate PAR sheet for each paytable. The PAR sheets for a specific SB chip are usually grouped together. I have very few of these, and do not have a set for the game that you have installed, so I cannot send you one to look at that would be relevant to your slot.

I just purchased a new CHAMII+ with two 8 cell displays, off of Flea Bay. It has a harness with it (see pic). It is labeled Bally Alpha 485/232 Converter. Anybody know what this is for? I know it's not for the S-2000. I am hooking this CHAMII+ to my S-2000.

Also the CHAMII+ was not quite complete. It is missing the EPROM in C9 U19. Anybody know where
to get the right one, please?

Ron,

If you mean the Eprom at position U19 its a 27c-020 or 27c2001
you could just copy the one from your Mikohn in your Tabasco
if you still have it. If not let me know I can help you out with one.

Hi

Alpha is the current Bally platform. My gues is that part board in the harness converts RS485 to RS232 (serial protocols).
According to the manuals I have the S2000 platform pinout is per attached. Unfortunately dont have a working setup to confirm harness and SW.

That sound about right as the black wires are the power to that little circuit board. Your enclosed pin out is the one I use.

Thanks
