I have a couple of machines that power up, lights come on bill validator makes noise but the reels don't spin and the led lights don't come on.  The reset button and reset key have no effect.  Any ideas on where to start this trouble shoot.

Re-seat the MPU board a few times, make sure no bent pins, and check the connections to the mother board for burnt connectors. There is one that over heats and causes this problem a lot. It will be obvious when looking at the connector. also when powered up are the reels stiff to turn or not. I suspect not.

You are right , the reels are easy to spin even when powered up.  If I do find a burnt connector what do I do to fix the problem?

Thanks

Stout had some posts on rewiring your own molex connectors, or you could just get it from one of the vendors above.....

I'd remove the power supply harness going to the motherboard from the power supply box.
Spray some de-oxit into the molex receptor pins and a shot of it onto the motherboard pins.
Let dry for a few minutes and shove the molex back onto the the motherboard pins...you should be good to go!
If not, try working the molex upwards a bit and tilt it to the right...
What we're trying to establish here is - a new connection a little higher up upon the over-oxidized pins.
the display should light up and the reels should have that nice stiff feeling. yes
