I have recently purchased some additional WMS 550 chip sets. I have two 550 machines in my Gameroom, one with a printer and one without.
If I try to put printer enabled software into the cabinet without a printer I will get a tilt because the game software is programmed to look for the printer, that I can understand.
Am I correct in thinking that I can put non printer enabled software into the cabinet with the printer without any problems or will the machine still try to enable the printer through some hidden program some place and give me a tilt?   Scratch Head

I figured I would ask here first and if nobody knows for sure Ill try it and post the results

Thanks

Jay

I thought you could use the XU-2 and XU-3 printer based chip in a non-printer 550 machine. You just have to set the hopper payout to 1 and never try to cash out
It's been a long time and can't remember for sure.

Printer based games have to be used in a machine with a printer, however you can use your hopper based games in both,
just set the hopper payout to 1, if you cash out with only 1 credit on the machine you will cause a fault, as there is no hopper installed,
you will then have to do a ram clear and set the game up again.

If you try to play a printer based game in a non printer 550 or in a machine that has a printer error you will most definitely get a tilt message. this I know from experience
