I would re-seat the MPU and connectors going to the mother board.

MPU is the big silver tray at the back of the machine mother board is the board at the bottom.

I, ve pulled out the MPU, inspected for broken or burned elements....the wire to the mother board are OK.....and the motherboard are ok (no burn or broken).....re seated the MPU but the problem is the same....no display, no candle light, and the reel runs slow with noise.......I've turned off and on the machine and now the reel are stopped....but the machine is inoperative.....no light, no display and the reset key don't work......
I think that I need a new motherboard and MPU!!!

good and bad news, first the good,  we could help you get the machine running,  bad news,  you will need to do a few things to help us help you.  do you have a meter to measure voltages?, does the machine have a bill acceptor?, where is the main logic board located?  Does the denomination lamp lite? as soon as you turn on power to the machine the lamp should come on.(assuming that the bulb is good) If the bulb is good and it does not come on then that means you are not getting 7vac to it.  That usually indicates the connector coming from the lower power supply module to the motherboard is bad. ( usually brown discoloring on the connector itself) wiggle this as you watch the denomination lamp. this will establish that you are getting power to the main logic board.

Hi Jim......thanks for the answer... Smiley
My slot is a S Plus first type (year 1989), no bill acceptor...only token. The main logic board is located on the vertical left side of the machine (mother board and CPU board). If need I have a meter tester. The denomination lamp lam is working and come on when I turn on the machine......The reels often stops and re start running. Note: the reels run not in correct way but backwards.... (sorry for the english!!)...

the reels running backwards is normal for a S+. it will do it the first time when power is applied, and it goes through its set-up and self diagnostic tests, then the reels will stop reel #3 then reel #2, then reel #1.  then during normal game play they will stop 1-2-3.
can you get into the test mode by pressing the white test button?  does anything change when you close the door and secure the latch all the way down ?

Just for kicks with the door open, turn the reset key once,
then close the door and tell us what happens.

Do you have a spare MPU to swap with the chips?
We need to single out the problem.
Spare boards for S+'s are not expensive at this time.
Make sure it's the same MHz  (10 or 16 MHz) as the one your using now.

Also, have you checked the 2 wires that run to the reset key-switch?
Can you verify for us with a multimeter that the key switch is operational?

Max,   one last area to check, since the denomination lamp is on then the 7vac is good, since the reels are locked in (they don't spin freely when power is applied) then the 24vac is good, the last voltage to check is +vb.  This is derived from the 8vac.  you can check the +vb on the door display board. measure across C-6 a 15 microfarad cap.  you should measure 8-10 vdc.

Max, since all the voltages appear to be good  your first guess could be correct.  I would inspect all the cabinet wiring, make sure all the plugs are seated, no bent pins on the logic board, if all of these look good then I would suspect the board. did you look at all the chips that are in sockets? for proper insertion and for legs bent under neath the chip,  and lastly, look for missing components around the regulator( part with the black heat sink) the big diode in front of it.

even if nothing worked in the machine usually you can get some indication that there is some data coming from the board to the output (display), when you get nothing and all the power supply voltages are good then I would suspect the board.

I do not think so, if battery was low you get a 12 showing on the display.
